Capitol Subaru service

So last weekend I took my car in to have a tire repaired. I picked it up and when I got back home I noticed a mark on my passenger side seat. I initially thought it was an oil or grease mark. I went to touch it and realized it was a burn mark that made a hole. Now, neither my gf or I smoke and have never had a lighter or matches in the car. I was confused because they just did a tire repair and should not have used anything hot in or around my car let alone be in my car for that matter. So I thought maybe it could have been a malfunction from the seat warmers. After taking it to Subaru again today, they said it wasn't the seat warmers for the cause and since they didn't notice it before I left with the car they aren't responsible. So what they said was they could try and get me a discount with their upholstery but thats all they could do. So I now have to pay out of my pocket for something I did not do. So I guess the moral of my story is to always check your car no matter what before leaving the dealership. Upside is now I am thinking aftermarket seats!:D

My father insisted that I go with the extended warranty crap through Toyota, and I did. It was $1500 for 5 years but if I don't use the service, they'll refund me at the end. I'm staying far away from that dealership until I'm refunded.

I'll be doing my own services on the car from now on. I guess in your case, a tire repair makes no sense why there would be interior damage, but I suggest Sparco seats!

Guess I'm doing a full inspection when I get my 3000mi oil change.

lol wut? They are going to refund you the warranty if you don't use it? That is how they make money, people buying the warranty and end up not having to use it...

It is...I went in and asked and they told me I have the full 3 years (I got the 3 year ex. Warranty) to come get a refund. But they said it'll just be removed from my total cost. No checks.

I see. Well... if it is free... all the power to you.

If you are doing oil changes every 3000 miles and paying it... well... don't know what to tell you.

This is the why my car buddies stay away from dealership servicing, even when the car is under warranty.

One friend ALWAYS ends up with some mysterious body damage every time he brings in his M3 to the BMW dealership. :bonk:

I have been able to totally avoid the dealership so far, but not anymore!

Just got DMV renewal notice with a Mfg recall #WQC39

Mandatory proof of correction required! At a dealership!

I'm REALLY dreading it!!!

For your WRX though, right?

Edit: Found this thread about it: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23502
