Well, youre the first Ive heard of shaving the rivals.

Wepeel 05-19-2014 12:02 PM

Saw this car this past Sat, really like the color combo of the silver/gunmetal. That 8200 redline I'm sure was nice to have on Sat's course!

tahdizzle 05-19-2014 12:07 PM

So with those bolt ons you got 205 whp not on corn?

Send me to your tuner!

Was such a fun course! We should hit the rev limiter more often ;)

The Dyno Dynamics dyno reads 11% higher than the Dynojet. I originally had Open Flash Tablet prior to EcuTek. I definitely recommend OFT as a cost effective tuning software.

Did you run the OFT with the Borla? If so, how was it and did you notice a big difference between the OFT and ECUTek tunes?

I need to get a header and availability/price is pushing me toward the Borla. HKS seems to make the most power but is $$$ and would also require a custom tune (even more $$$). I would get the OFH if there wasn't such a lead time on it.

PoorMansRacing 05-19-2014 02:39 PM

@Wepeel I did. Powerwise, there wasn't a huge difference, but the custom tune definitely smoothed out my A/F ratio and completely removed my torque dip and idle issues. I'm running about 4% less aggressive tune with the same power output. Launch control was dropped from 5600 RPMs to 4000RPMs (at my request). Max RPMs went from 7500 to 8200.

I can't comment on the flat-foot shifting or revmatching features. Haven't tried them out.

I went with the Borla, because it's the lightest on the market.

Here are my dyno sheets:
  • Dyno Dynamics - 4th Gear Pull - OFT

  • Dynojet - 3rd Gear Pull - OFT

  • Dynojet - 3rd Gear Pull - EcuTek

^Great info, thanks, that really helps. I will def need to come over and say hi next event - I was running the white BRZ #23. Love the huge STX field down in DC. Not sure yet if I will make it down yet on the 8th.

PoorMansRacing 05-19-2014 03:05 PM

Definitely let me know when you're coming back down to the DC area, so we can properly meet :) @Wepeel

WDCR-SCCA First Ever Night Autocross, 6/1/2014

Ran the new Hankook RS3 (v1) over the weekend. My first impressions were they take the same amount of time, if not more, to warm up as the Rivals, but they are definitely a lot grippier than the Rivals. So far, I am very pleased with the new set of tires and decided to run them for the rest of the season.
