To generate ideas, get support, get to see what other people are doing to their car, etc?

I don't understand why people like you bother clicking on a thread if your only intent is to leave some snide or snarky comment - was that energy really put to good use? If you disagree with their choice, and think they can benefit from a contradicting opinion, then maybe engage in discussion as per the definition of a forum? Ask what they're looking to achieve, or what is motivating them to do it, and point out where their view might fall short instead of throwing some overbearing closed-ended statement at them? I feel like less and less people bother posting, or reaching out to others on this forum because of BS like that.

OP, I disagree with your choice and would like to have a discussion about what direction you are going and your purpose for adding the stripes. What are you trying to achieve with the stripes? What is motivating you to go in this direction? Sadly, I think that your view falls short for a couple reasons: Paint will fade unevenly, stripes need to be replaced every so often as they will wear out, plus you will look like a mustang or a camaro.

Please discuss and get back to me. I apologize for being overbearing the first time with my harsh and unnecessary statement. I feel really REALLY bad about it. Hopefully, this post is not as close-ended as my last one was.

That is all,

Management.

Its his car, maybe he likes his stripes. Its all about what makes you smile.

If it makes you smile, then why are you worried about other people's opinions? Just do it.

And when you ask people's opinions, they are going to give it to you. Then all of the bleeding hearts are gonna chime in with "Its his car. Leave him alone bully!"

Bwahahaahah

lol, yup! Damned if you do, damned if you don't. He can do whatever he wants. I'm not the one driving the car.

Do whatever you want to your car. Fuck what other people say. It's your car, not theirs.

No one gave bad advice. They just voiced their opinions.

Some said "Cool" some said "I can't un-see the horror! Please don't!"

But they were all opinions which the OP asked for by putting his thoughts on a public forum.

I'm not here to save anyone from themselves :P

If you ask for it, don't be upset when you get it.

FRSdrive 05-20-2014 06:52 PM

Yeah. I wasn't talking about this post in particular. I was making a generalized observation on internet forums as a whole. But it's a free country where everyone can voice their opinions I guess. It's just sad that negativity towards others is getting worse. Give an honest opinion and offer constructive criticism. People don't have to be ****s about it. Hahaha.

No one was a crazy ****s about it. @Ammunition took it a little harsher than it was meant to be. End of the day, I'm not driving the car and the OP is the only one who has to like it. That being said, he posts on and open forum, he's gonna get SOME flack for it. Not everyone likes how mustangs look ;)

If you're worried about how people perceive you and your car based on what others do to their similar cars, you have a problem. You're not going to be able to convince everyone else to mod their cars in only the ways you approve of or would do to your car. Try and embrace a wider view of what it means to be a car enthusiast. Otherwise, you could sell your car if your self esteem is taking a hit every time someone does something to their car that you don't approve of.

Not sensitive at all - I'm speaking to you like an adult, but given your middle-school level of commentary and the means you justify it by, I can see how you're not able to interpret that.

By all means, dish out the flack, but don't get sensitive (ironic much?) when someone makes their own "please don't" comment after yours.

Could have fooled me with your ranting. Funny thing is that in my line of work, I've learned to not give a rats ass about what people think about me or what they say to me. You? You calling me a middle schooler means nothing to me. I'm likely more educated and smarter. Am I supposed to be offended here? Why don't you go be a knight in shining armor to your next "victim" (by "victim" I mean you are making them into one. He's a big boy, let him speak for himself)

Anyway. OP - I'm not partial to racing stripes, but I have seen them done well before where they look good, or interesting. I think it depends a lot on the color of your car and the color of striping you plan to have done. I think this image (below - looks similar to the first image you've posted) shows hood stripes that have been done well IMO. Also, I think if you can have them painted it'll look a lot better than if it is done with vinyl which has a matte finish and will reflect the light differently from the paint on the body, but I'm not sure how much more expensive that would be, or if that is something concerning to you at all.

My car is red and I'm leaning towards black stripes. I really like the Red&Black combo.

I don't really want to paint my car because it's too expensive and it'll drop the value of the car when I try to sell it.
I'm going to get the job done by these guys who are a master at what they do.
http://carbonfibrevinylwrap.net.au/

They're literally a 10 minute drive from where I live. They vinyl wrapped a car from the movie "The Wolverine", Jaguar and Audi Australia have also partnered with them for their vinyl wrap options. That definitely tells you something about their workmanship.

I want to get my black stripes in either matte black or satin black (I honestly don't really know the difference). I want to create a contrast between the glossy red and the non-reflective black.

That pattern in my first image (similar to yours) is what I've got in mind at the moment, but I started this thread to see if there're better ideas out there. I personally want something more aggressive looking, but nothing too sophisticated or it'll cost more $$$.
