Does the free service period cover leaking tires?
 

I have one tire that slowly leaks air that happened recently, and I'm wondering if that is covered for free. I bought my car back in Sept 2013, so of course I'm still in the free maintenance period.

If not, I heard Discount Tires is really good? True?

I'm no expert on these types of things but I want to say no, they usually don't cover tires unless it's a recall issue. I had the same thing happen to me when I was on stock tires and I went to Auto Zone and got a tire patch kit for myself for $10 and found the nail and fixed it myself. I'd suggest taking the tire that is leaking off if you can't find the leak with it mounted and looking for what causes it to leak. Tire patching takes no time at all and it lasted me 17k miles until I got my new tires and rims.

Well I just booked an appointment with Discount Tire through their website.

I read good reviews of them and cheap service costs, so I'd rather save myself the pain of doing it myself.

Bad idea.. Not a permanent fix, can throw wheel/tire off balance, adds weight, messy to clean up.. Good to use for emergencies and only temporary use.

Do not do this.. it's temporary emergency fix, next time you take your tire to a tire shop they will hate you, and on top of that it will destroy your tpms sensor.

And discount is awesome. The one I frequent has several car enthusiasts that take care of you. They were super careful on my new wheels when mounting tires. They always price match for me, and always go above and beyond in their customer service.

Probably one of my favorite stores in general, not just stores in the tire game.

They do cover it, if it is caused by something like a tpms sensor leaking or something of that sort.

I got a screw in mine, so I took it to a little shop that sells used tires to people who live in bad neighborhoods. It's funny to see people pull in there with $10K in 26" ghetto rims on their cars, only to put used tires on them.

Anyway, they had it off the car, patched and back on the car in ten minutes flat for $17. They did the job right where I parked it, so they didn't even have to get into my car. Every city has one or more of these "budget" tire places, and in my experience they're usually very good at patching tires fast and cheap because they do a lot of it. Minus your $10 for a tire patching kit, I think it was worth the $7 just to not have to get the jack out of the trunk.

I second and third the Discount Tire route -- I got a screw in mine and they fixed it for free. Have had nothing but excellent service from them at various locations.

Discount/Americas tire are great. Repairs are free. Patched my other cars tire plenty of time. Whenever I need tires I only go there.

For the leak, if it's on the sidewall... not repairable. Tread = good for patch.

I'd like to talk you out of using that stuff ..... unless it's an emergency.

If one is determined to do a "along side of the road" repair, for a non-sidewall puncture, I'd recommend a good tubeless tire repair kit (followed up by having it patched).

As mentioned, a person's best bet is to take it into a tire shop and have it fixed proper.
