Paved track at T-Hill

This just went out on their twitter! http://instagram.com/p/oD8dfruDyP/

I'm excited!

And now it is paved: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BpJFd6VIAAAUk76.jpg:orig

I suspect we should consider our brakes to be on notice; that straight'ish area after turn 9 (basically everything from exit of the new turn 10 to the entry of turn 12) is downhill. I suspect speeds will be getting very very high with alot of hard braking to make turn 12.

Also, from walking the track (before it was paved, ie back in April), I suspect that the braking zone for turn 19 might collect some cars; it has some challenging technical aspects to it.

Also, because I like to brag, I will be there is four days! :-D

According to the post on facebook, the asphalt is curing. I've heard that HOD on Saturday and Sunday (when I will be there) will be the first group to use the new track. Technically the grand opening is supposed to be an SCCA race on June 21st and 22nd so we are getting a "sneak peek" as it is being called.

When I walked it that is exactly the feeling I got. You have a real sense of isolation, sort of like back country roads.

Very tired after a hot, long day but just thought I let you all know, the new track is awesome. Very technical with alot of linked turns. Also very slippery from the oil that the asphalt releases. Unfortunately we had to cut back to the three mile track part way through the day because of the high temperatures making the fresh asphalt too soft. That said, it is obvious that the five mile configuration is really something special!
