Best racing game for car customization?

What is the best PC racing game that features very deep car customization? By that I mean I want a game where i can add a turbo or a supercharger, body mods, body kits, tires, wheels, height, colors, and other performance and body mods, etc. I dont even know where to start, theres so many racing games, i dont really have time to look into each. I currently have Grid 2, NFS Most Wanted, and NFS Hot Pursuit (dont really play it much) and theyre alright. I also want it to be more of a racing simulator, rather than an arcade style game like NFS. Ive heard NFS Carbon, and Underground are good and are like this, so i might try them out, but i also want something released not too long ago... nice graphics would be a big plus.

Please help at all, and thank you in advance.

None.

The sims take racing seriously. The others you already own. So uhh.. NFS Underground 2?

This looks neat, doesn't really fit your criteria exactly, but they've said they fixed what the community asked for after GRID 2 came out.

Forza Motorsport 4 for XBOX 360. Forza 5 if you need to have "next gen" but FM4 has much more overall content. That pretty much fits your description perfectly.

Too bad those aren't on glorious master race PC like OP wanted. :D

I agree though, if OP is willing to go buy a 360 Forza 4 is a great game. But I wouldn't ever buy a system for just one game either, that's rather expensive..

Racing games on the PC?

You need a flat screen, Xbox 360, and Forza 4.

I think the underground series was the best in terms of customization but it's no simulator that's for sure.

Shame. Because Forza is exactly what they want.

Basically OP it comes down to which is your priority?

Do you want a simulator? Because PC is king here and you have tons of choices. RaceRoom, rFactor, Richard Burns Rally, iRacing, etc..

Or do you want more arcadey, like what you've been playing?

IMO grab this and play it a bit. Might as well since it's free. http://store.steampowered.com/app/211500/
You'll quickly find out how much simulator you want. It is nowhere near as easy as what you're used to.

Tokyo Xtreme Racer: Zero is the best car customization racing game ever made.

Only if you like driving like you're on ice skates.

Depends on the factory suspension setup. You can tune all cars to handle really well with some quick edits. Usually softening up the rear springs and adding a sway bar is all you need to fix 99% of "ice skating" cars.

Project CARS is shaping up to look good, but im not sure how deep the car customization is though. (release is end of year, its been in development for a long time, crowdfunded) If you contributed early, you have access to the game and the development.

Asseto Corsa is great, and a much better sim, however it doesnt allow for car customizations to the extent of engine or body modifications. mostly just tuning the cars.
this is technically also not released yet, but you can buy early access on steam and follow the development.

rfactor 2 is out, no experience with it, but if its anything like the first rfactor, then you have a wealth of options for mods and etc.

You can still play the original rfactor, still good, and a lot of user made content out. Takes a lot of legwork on your end though. and the game just looks like crap.

if your looking for a good PC Sim racer, you're probably going to limit yourself in the ways of car customization the way you want. most of the "simulators" try to avoid such customizations. (or just dont have the resource to pour into it like forza) Most just let you tune the hell out of your car.

http://insidesimracing.tv could be a good resource for sim racing related news.

Defiantly go with forza 4. There are many cars to customize including the frs
