Picked on by a Ferrari
 

Ok so a little back ground info before I begin. I live in the fairly wealthy city of Irvine, California. Most of the students at my high school come from families that can afford to buy them brand new Mercedes and BMWs. I consider myself extremely fortunate to be driving an FR-S.

Anyway, everyday after school some dad picks up his son in a Ferrari F430 Spyder. He usually waits for his son near where I park my car. As I was packing my stuff into the trunk, Mr Ferrari rolls up with the top down and says, "that's a nice car..." Initially I took this as a compliment and was about to thank him until he opens his mouth again. Then he says "but it's not as nice as my car. You know how much I paid for this? A lot more than yours probably". At this point I'm thinking, " ugh what an a-hole". But in reality I say "yeah sure. You're a grown man with a job picking on a high schooler that details cars on the weekend for money. Why don't you scuttle along so I can go home". Baaaad idea. He revs that motor to ear busting volumes and has been doing that around me for a week now. Even better yet, his son comes up to me now and then and says something like " my dad's car is so much better than yours...blah blah blah ". Sometimes he rudely pushes me aside on the staircase.

Anyway, thanks for reading my story. Have any of you been picked on by other people driving more expensive cars?

Time for a turbo.

Bragging about your car never ends well. You might see some key marks on his car soon enough. Sounds like when he was your age, he didn't have a car like you did.

This reminds me why i like cars like the M5, S 63 AMG, RS7. They have four doors and blow away assholes like these. If you're in a sporty coupe and you get blown away in a sedan, i can't think of anything more embarrassing unless it was a minivan.

Mr Ferrari must be compensating for something. What a doucher. Pour sugar into his gas tank.

Don't worry. Just remember.. He might have more money, but with more money comes more problems. I've seen it all before. The universe will always find equilibrium. Everybody has to give back what they took.

One more thing.. Don't pour sugar down his tank. You can't fight negativity with negativity. Shower him with love and positive things to say. It will be more effective.

Yeah, that is definitely a guy who bought the Ferrari to try and cover up his insecurities. Don't sweat it. Btw, I loved the come back, if you really did say it. People like him are why it's hard to respect guys who drive those kind of cars. Some are humble car guys, others are just douche bags who are trying to compensate.

Many of the other parents/students don't appreciate his revving. I believe a cop told him to stop disturbing the peace, to which he replied with a loud rev. But like evan said, he'll get what's coming for him.

I'm not gonna mess around with him because that's basically sinking to his level. Plus he's always sitting in his car waiting for his son.

You should record videos of him being a douche then post it on youtube and send it to your local news stations.

edit- He's probably gonna crash his Ferrari sooner or later with his type of douchebag behavior.

Yeah you always hear stories of high school bullies. But the fact that I'm being "bullied" by a grown man makes me chuckle

I think you're better off, even if he has a Ferrari. You're appreciating your car, good for you. :) You sound like a very nice young person who will go far in life.

I'm from Irvine and having a gathering of 86s sounds awesome! But nobody in their right mind would come into our parking lot unless they had to. Bad teen drivers everywhere. Super crowded. Takes me 20 minutes just to escape from my parking area (don't get me started on trying to get out onto the road lol)

Don't worry , there are also very nice Ferrari drivers out there.
While i was cruising one early sunday morning , a guy in a vintage Ferrari Dino chased me down and commented how great the new brz is.
I returned the compliment by saying how great the classic Dino is.
Maybe some ppl have a silver spoon stuck in their throat from their rich parents!

The people with real money don't talk about how much they paid for their car unless they are saying they paid less than they actually did. It's the want to be's that say things implying you can't afford a Ferrari. They usually have everything financed to the hilt and any one single life event, they loose it all. The real money guy, if he knew you, would throw the keys over to and tell you to take it for a spin. After all, it is an INSURED Ferrari and easily replaced. Just don't get hurt. That is how I drove my first Ferrari in 1984. As a teenager, back then, there was no way I could pay for any damages. I was so nervous, I was shaking.

Enjoy your car, as it is more reliable and a better handling car than that Ferrari I drove back then.

Until that day, I had no idea what a "Dinan BMW" was. I figured it was just a luxury package or something.

Just use your phone to record him being an asshat a few times. When he asks what you're doing, tell him you're collecting evidence for the harassment complaint. If that doesn't make him stop, then file a harassment complaint. Just because he has a Ferrari doesn't give him an excuse to pick on anyone, much less a kid in high school.
