Does anyone regret putting stickier tires on?
Odd question, I know.
The twins are so fun to drive in their stock configuration. It's so balanced and confidence inspiring. Very easy to catch in a slide. Admittedly though, there is a fine line between traction and wheelspin. I want the aesthetics that come with a wider wheel and tire setup. But does it make driving on the street a little less exciting? |
In the same boat as far as tire compound I don't want to numb the amazing feel the car has from stock

Nope. LOVE the confidence I have in curves now. Tail sliding is fun, but I was always worried that the car was going to do it when I didn't want it to
|
Well, less exciting, sure. It's also a lot less aggravating, too. I can drive faster without worrying I'm going to die. I'll be going back to stock tires for the track. Perhaps if I lived on a street with wide open space for drifting, I'd feel differently.

I live in an area that has lots of tight winding roads with trees and rocks frequently just at the edge of the pavement. Grip is good |
Stickier tires can produce more G's and I personally find more G's to be pretty fun. You can corner faster and brake in shorter distances (assuming your sticky tires aren't being used in icy/cold conditions).
Everyone is different though. Do you like more G's or do you like hanging your rear-end out? ;) |
Just put stickier tyres on the front.
Low grip rears. Lulz will ensue. |
Not at all, running 17 inch Michelin Pilot SSP's they are a perfect match.

i have Michelin Pilot super sports.. and i do not regret my decision
with stock tires i was sliding off in corners with full traction on.. lol feel safer with the new tires. i rather drift when its wide open area like the track. |
I was planning to go with less grip but I got a good deal on some potenza re760s so I went with that. Grip level is twice what it was with the stock tires.
I wouldn't say I regret it but lets say I like seeing rain now. Sometime's when it's dry and hot I miss being able to drive on the edge. |
If you just want wider look without the grip, why not use all season tires?
|
Nope. I went with Pilot Sport A/S3 (245's) and love them. I'm not big on sliding the tail around, wearing out tires faster and possibly inviting the law to frown upon my activities. With the new ones, I can corner about as fast as I'd ever want to on the street without sliding.

I hated not being able to trust the car when going into a turn at speed, so I always babied it around turns out of fear of wrecking the car. This car should have came with sticky tires out of the box, among other things. Loving the Michelin Pilot Super Sports

Stickier tires no I don't regret that.
Wider/heavier wheels to go with that.... ya kinda do regrer it, but I kept my stock wheels around for a reason :P |
