Dealer service 5/13....
Do I ask them to flash the updated ECU? From what I have read, the latest for my cal is the ZA1JB01D from S-SB-0040-13 : Intermittent RPM Drop TSB. Some people have said that the throttle response has worsened a bit due to some DI seal protection changes.
Any suggestions? I have flashed back to the stock tune via OFT, for the service. |
I just did this on Friday during my 15K service. Be sure to bring a copy of the TSB with you.
I told them I had the idle drop issue and that there was a TSB, and when I got back they could not replicate and couldn't find a TSB. I showed the TSB on my phone and he was dumbfounded but totally happy to do it. They failed on Friday (apparently, I was the first FR-S they've ever tried to flash), and went back in today and they succeeded. Have not noticed any issues in throttle issue, and flashed back to OFT OTS when I got home. |
You need to realize that if you are flashing a tune back onto your ECU after the dealer flash, the dealer flash is completely overwritten.
If you plan to flash a tune (OFT, ECUTEK, etc.) after your dealer visit, save yourself some time and don't bother with the dealer flash. Hopefully whatever tune you are flashing was based on the latest OEM ROM. I've updated all of my tunes with the latest B01 ROMS. - Bob |
