JDM Underbody Panels

As you all know, the USDM version only has 1 of the 4 underbody plastic panels... I am in the process of ordering a set from japanparts, and was wondering is anyone here would like to join me in splitting the 4-pack? It comes with all mounting hardware, and we would split the bill pretty much evenly. Local pickup preferred, but I can ship if you cover the cost.

This isn't really a group buy, just something I'm offering to save everyone some money on shipping. Otherwise, I'm just going to order the single set. Cost is about $155 for the parts alone, plus whatever shipping and duties will be to me (Virginia), then local pickup or domestic shipping to you at cost.

What part of Virginia?

Is this still happening if so can you link to the website you are ordering from

aznatama 05-16-2014 11:15 PM

Website would be japanparts.com.

I'm located in Arlington, but soon moving to Fairfax, VA.

The only way I can see this working is for me to take some sort of deposit first, which can be done through Paypal. Once part arrives and total customs/freight/etc. is calculated, the difference can be paid and parts picked up.

let's do this! =D

I work in Annandale so distance seems to be no problem =).

ikeryder13 05-17-2014 02:32 PM

Pm me and let's figure it out and a deposit

aznatama 05-17-2014 06:41 PM

PM me your email addresses so I can send out a group email. Thanks.

FYI, I got a shipping quote, it's quite steep. Comes out to about $225 each set (parts + shipping), plus taxes. If still interest, pm me pls.

Thanks.

would this under panel fit with after market exhaust and such?

aznatama 05-19-2014 02:25 AM

Looking at the pics from the JP site, it doesn't seem to interfere at all with any of the exhaust piping. Since these panels are stock on all Japanese cars (US only gets one of the 4 pcs afaik), I would assume that they will work with most if not all exhausts.

They basically smooth out the airflow under the car, resulting in 0.01cd better aerodynamics. Plus, keeps undercarriage cleaner, installs in stock holes, and should be a relatively fast install if you have a clean underside.

I purchased a set on my own and it cost me a touch over $300. You guys should jump on this deal. Keep in mind that you will get a bill from fedex about a week or so after its delivered for overseas import duty, so OP you'll need to factor that into your price when you average out the cost for everyone. I wasn't expecting that tax but it was only around $15 or so. Shipping in 4 sets will probably mean you'll get a bill for ~$60.

As for interference will exhaust components, I don't see how it could interfere with any exhausts as it's not even remotely close to where the exhaust is run.

The one panel the US 86 comes with is like half the size of the JDM version and there is a small panel over the gas tank you'll have to remove as well. The install might seem fast and it pretty much is, but the undercoating that is sprayed over the plugs that you have to remove along the sides of the car was an absolute pain in the ass to get off. Get ready for some swearing as you are trying to get them out. It probably took me around 1.5 hours to get the car on the stands, panels on, and back on the ground. Most of that time was fighting those stupid plugs.

Here's before and after pictures.
