Average price for Opti-coat / full detail?
I want to make sure I'm not getting ripped off. I an planning to get opti-coat installed and there's only one detail I've found so far in CT that does it, just want to double check on price to make sure I'm not getting screwed. Seemed a little high imo.

Optimum offers two coatings. OC 2.0 is available to the average consumer. Opti-Coat Pro is available to authorized detailers only. Authorized Pros are required by Optimum to charge MAP prices for the actual coating application. What they charge for defect correction prior to the coating is up to the individual detailer. Map pricing for OCP on small cars starts at $325.00 and goes up from there according to vehicle size. Add in a few hundred bucks worth of correction and you can see why many shops charge what the do.

About a grand for 8-10 hours of correction and opticoat
|
I would expect around $500 for a new car from the dealer. There usually is some correction needed after shipping and any dealer prep. If the car is older it will cost more since more correction will most likely be needed.

I paid $400 for paint correction (car less than 1 week old, never washed by dealer) and Opti-Coat 2 application. Being just about straight from the dealer helped keep costs down as there wasn't too many items to correct.

I would highly suggest investing in a Porter Cable 7424 and our paint correction kit. You are at about ~$150. We are working on a new sealant formula that is in testing phase. We will keep everyone updated

Can you tell us why you went with OC 2.0 instead of OCP ? Just curious. |
It was mostly due to convenience. There aren't a lot of folks who are certified to apply OCP around here. The nearest OCP certified applicator was over a two hour drive away. I chose instead a highly recommended local detailer who was only 25 minutes away. With the time it takes to do a proper decontamination, paint correction, and OC application (with enough curing time) you really have to leave the car overnight. I dropped it off on Friday afternoon and picked it up early on Sunday morning. The OC had cured for over 12 hours.
I'm very happy with OC 2.0. It has held up well. I guess we will see down the road if I made the right call. |
Cost me $650 (CDN) for correction and OCP on a car with 24,000kms on it.

When I got my Fr-s done here in LA area the pro version was called OptiGuard, consumer, Opticoat. Two authorized installers near me charge the same, $600. That was awhile ago. Love it, really helps keep the car clean and shiny! I had it done just a week or so old.
