I'm pretty sure everything is in tact behind the tablet, not sure cuz it's dark, but I bet it's just hanging there somehow

It's more like "snapped/fitted" than "hanging".

There's one guy in the FB group 3D-printing out brackets for specific tablets, got mine for my Nexus 7. Fitment is exceptional, you can't even wiggle out the thing. And it's a clean, non-destructive setup.

Yea, I have a similar idea to mount my 8.4 Samsung in front of the stereo with magnets and small L brackets, it will look like it's floating. Plus I can take it off for track days so I don't end up decapitated by my tablet

I actually did this setup specifically for track days, so I can monitor oil temps at a glance.
