Mazda! Y U NO make this!?
I've been a big fan of Mazda's sports cars for a long time. The RX-7, the RX-8, and of course the Miata in all of it's incarnations (even the MS3, though I wouldn't drive one). However, I feel that Mazda is really missing out on having a halo for their brand, something that people would lust over.
So my question is... what the hell happened to THIS? http://img.favcars.com/mazda/concept...llpapers_1.jpg and WHY WON'T YOU MAKE IT, MAZDA??? Are you MAD? Seriously, I wouldn't even mind an inline 4 at 2.5 liters (the new Mazda6's engine would be an excellent choice, massaged for a little more power). It doesn't NEED a rotary... I'm just... I'm just... I have a lot of feelings right now. What do you guys think? |
Jesus, everything looks like a jellybean these days...
This thing is like 10 minutes in photoshop away from being a passable 86 concept. Actually I take that back, 2 minutes in MS Paint to paste on the Toyobaru nose. Edit: The only Mazda sports car at this point I'd be interested in would be another RX or if the next Miata has a screaming engine. If that thing came with a rotary that put the RX-7 to shame at <3,000 lbs I would seriously consider it, probably the only car on the horizon that would get me back in the showroom. |
Meh... Looks like a Miata and a Crossfire mated.
Ironically I see you had a Crossfire and liked it so I guess that's why it appeals to you, but my honest OP is a negative one. I think Mazda needs more Furai and this has more "hairdresser" styling. Thanks for sharing though, I haven't saw this concept render before. |
It still has the horse nostrils from the RX8.

This is the mazda kabura concept, it is actually 8 years old. I made a little project on this car in college, it's a 3+1, it has 3 full size seats and one drop down..as their market research said most of the time people are 3 in a car, not 4. Interesting layout for sure. I don't think it aged too well.

1.6L rotary in an 86 body with RX-7 FD suspension. I am a buyer then.

That 20 year old suspension... You say unequal length double wishbone like it's a bad thing.
But I agree about the rotaries. Dear fans of the rotary.. Mazda is now a company that makes money so don't get your hopes up for a rotary because it's damn near impossible for them to meet current emission and economy regulations and they don't sell. Embrace SkyActiv, it's not a bad thing. |

FD suspension is perfect.( to an extent...or the extent of the owner.) You're just use to the modern day chassis, which are amazing compare do to what came out in the 90's.
FD suspension on a modern day chassis would be really nice. A good change from the MacPherson we see in every car out today. Sure, double wishbones are ancient.... |
Gentlemen, my previous "fun" car was a NA Miata. I was being facetious. Look it up.

That's one of the ugliest cars I've ever seen.
If Mazda makes anything new, I pray it doesn't like anything like that concept |
