The day has finally come

It's been an incredibly long road but I finally have all my parts and have begun installing my kit. That being said I had a few questions that I know I asked before but I can't find the answers anymore. Your help is greatly appreciated.

1. Where to draw / return the coolant for water cooled turbos in a clean and efficient manner

2. I recall seeing several posts about a few vacuum lines that need to be clamped down.Apparently once boosted they have a tendency to pop off. Where do I need to clamp them and is there a post detailing it?

Thanks

I think others have had good luck just eliminating or teeing off the throttle body coolant lines. Eliminating meaning just running those connections through the turbo, that's what I plan on doing. I'm not in an area where I need to really worry about cold weather too much.

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62709 i have the same jdl kit as you ryan w gtx3071 im just going to eliminate coolant lines to tb and go str8 to turbo

steveoexige 05-09-2014 12:21 PM

I didnt get any coolant fittings or lines in my JDL kit..... :(

Ryan P 05-09-2014 12:25 PM

Steve,me neither but I also purchased the kit sans turbo, wastegate and bov since I had them left over from that god damn fa20Club kit that took 6 months to partially arrive at my door. The base kit comes with a oil only turbo so I didn't expect them to come with it anyway.

Kai, I'm running the gt3076 words can't express how excited I am to finally put this thing together. I think I may just go ahead and eliminate the lines to the TB as well, I store the car in the winter anyway.

The hoses you should clamp down are located under the intake manifold on the drivers side. I was able to get to mine fairly easily by swinging the A/C compressor out of the way. Here is a video that might help a bit.

The way yours and Steve's kit were was a bit confusing on our end in terms of what is included in a kit sans turbo, wastegate and bov, especially regarding the turbo and oil/water fittings. Either way if you need anything let us know.

Jesse

As mentioned, I believe eliminating the throttle body cooling is the best way. To do this you connect one line from the turbo to the aluminum coolant jacket that runs under the intake manifold and there is a barb near the passenger side of the throttle body. Then the other line from the turbo goes to the back of the motor on the driver side. There is a coolant line that goes onto a vertical barb located there.
