Nameless 2.5" axleback drone?

Hey guys, about to pull the trigger on this exhaust but wanted to clarify a couple things.

After doing research I've heard conflicting reports on the drone, does this drone with the 4" muffler option and the 5"? Or neither? This'll be going on a stock system and I don't plan on changing anything down the road.

An being in the sticks, all I can do for sound is listen to audio clips and we all know that's nothing like the real thing, so if you could let me know in your opinion how loud it'll be on a stock system that'll be great, compared to n1 would be better, loved the sound of the n1 but don't want to drone with all my hwy driving, thanks guys!

i got the 2.5 inch with 4 inch muffler, it was pretty sweet
i think you'll like it
i also had the HFC/ HHoltz resonator /downpipe as well

5 inch will be too quiet, but suitable if you get a header later

never had drone

Boofneenee 05-09-2014 07:44 AM

None and not even with headers. However with headers it gets real loud. Trust me

FR-S Matt 05-09-2014 07:49 AM

The 3" version drones of the full headerback with a catless header. The 2.5" probably not so much.

Also I had the 5" mufflers. Can't describe the 3" or 4"

It's the 3" version exhaust with the 5" mufflers that drones. I'm sure the 4" straight through mufflers are worse with rasp and drone. The main reason I ditched mine was because of the rasp. Sounded like Jose installed my exhaust for $50 and I was driving a fartcan Civic.

Muskokan 05-09-2014 08:36 AM

thanks for the replies guys!! just confirmed this is looking like my exhaust :D

gunna give the boys at nameless a call today and order a the 4' muffler option with the burnt blue/gold tips, cant wait! hoping the wait doesnt drive me nuts but itll be well worth it

J_kennington 05-09-2014 08:46 AM

I have the 2.5" with 5" mufflers and 4" tips. I won't lie. Going up a hill drones around 3k. Normal driving in the correct gear for the situation, there's no drone. Just a nice clean exhaust sound. With the radio on 13, can't even hear it unless you hold it to the floor. Very easy to have a normal conversation as well.

you should get in contact with Moh from @AlphaMotorsports.ca. They sell Nameless systems out of the GTA so I am sure you will save some money

Muskokan 05-09-2014 10:15 AM

@alpha ??? Nameless in gta that would be awesome, even better if I can avoid the month wait time.

sorry fixed the mention. Their website says out of stock right now but I hear nameless will be doing a run of axlebacks soon so if you get your order in you may not have to wait too long

J_kennington 05-09-2014 10:30 AM

If you would like, I can run two part video with my go pro. One outside the car and one inside the car. Fair warning though. Inside the car, you hear nothing on the video without amplifying the sound through the editing software. Due to it being so quiet. It gets cancelled out by the "wind reducer"

Thanks for the heads up man at the very least this will save me some cash. Maybe wait time too hopefully. Alpha motorsports seems to have good reviews but is the only way to contact them through fb? Can't seem to find an email or phone number. Again, thanks!

Should be okay I'm pretty set on this system I think now, you got the 4" mufflers? So it's beautiful on the outside and whisper quiet inside? Sounds too good to be true!!

I've been private messaging them on here for the last week about a purchase I'm looking to make. Moh is typically pretty quick to respond - within a day or two. I would just private message him here and see what happens.

That's what i figured. But their website does say they charge $515 canadian which is the same price nameless has in their website in usd.

So I figure if this is correct you will be saving a good amount of money especially with the Canadian dollar right now

Yeah I saw that. Also note that the $515 is the base price of the axleback, not including any mufflers, which the OP wanted

drewbot 05-09-2014 11:38 AM

I am personally interested in the 2.5" axleback with 5" mufflers and 2 bushings, $630

ToyoburuBRZ 05-09-2014 11:42 AM

Nameless 2.5" axleback drone?

Ya I noticed that as well. I am undecided on exhaust as if yet. But considering the 2.5" axle back not sure if I want 4 or 5 inch yet plus their catted OP/DP with helmhotltz

Hope you've read 70+ pages in the axle-back topic, there's plenty discussions on how it sounds, but nothing will replace hearing it yourself.
My 2 cents, with 5"x2.5" piece, it is pretty quiet on cruise at part throttle, it sounds very meaty when you give it gas and only time I find it droning/resonating inside the cabin is with windows up when you let off the gas and slow down as the RPMs drop, its slightly noticeable.
I wouldn't say its quiet, for axle backs I'm sure there's quieter, most people would probably agree . If its your only exhaust change, I think its great. I believe it might get louder than desired with other pipes swapped out.

Basically from having talked to them, they only offer the 4" b/c enough folks want it, but from a functional perspective, either go with no mufflers or the 5" mufflers. 4" is basically muffler delete but with mufflers (ie, they're pretty ineffective). That's what I've heard from NP.

well damn... now im undecided again. does than mean the 5' would have a nicer tone than the 4' mufflers? id like something low and aggressive but i dont want any drone or annoying amount of sound in the cabin.

Call nameless. They can more directly answer all your questions.

Tainen 05-09-2014 01:50 PM

Let me make something clear about several of the posts above-

You really get no drone until you put on a header. The people talking about fartcan sounds and loud exhausts all have headers. This is not a side effect of the axleback, it is a side effect of the header- although it would influence axleback choices.

Exactly. The solution to drone is a good muffler and resonators. Hemholz for rasp, a midpipe resonator of sufficient size to counter drone.

Note, this will not eliminate ALL rasp, as part of the rasp (from JDL UEL's specifically) is the sound of exhaust pulses ringing off of the header runners. Can't silence that, as it's due to a property of the materials used.

zc06_kisstherain 05-09-2014 02:45 PM

i am guessing everyone posted here has Nameless axle back??
I am currently running 2.5 Nameless axle 4" Muffler back with Motiv Catless Front Pipe.
It's little loud but not definitely super loud. It drones little bit but not much.
If you're planning to get header, i would go with 5" muffler otherwise i will chose 4" muffler over 5" muffler

J_kennington 05-09-2014 03:16 PM

I'll make the sound videos and you can at least get a good feel for a 5" muffler with stock exhaust every where else. Just gotta get off work and grab the go pro

MagicBobert 05-09-2014 03:32 PM

I have the 2.5" FP/OP combo with high-flow cat and resonator, and the 2.5" axleback with 5" mufflers (both Nameless). Stock header for now.

There is a tiny bit of drone, but only at certain RPM/throttle combinations. It's noticeable, but not bad enough to spoil the exhaust. I daily drive it 40-60 minutes on my commute each day and it doesn't bother me.

I'm happy with my choice. :)

Muskokan 05-09-2014 04:54 PM

Just made my order with that beauty of a gentleman Ryan, ended up going with the 5" muffler after talking to him, blue/gold tips!

Super pumped can't wait!!

Oh and for you wishful Canucks watching, alpha motorsports in Toronto made an order like a year ago, I don't think they'll stock them anymore, just eat the shipping! Something tells me it'll be worth it

4 - 6 weeks I believe... Mama always said good things come to ye for being patient.

Muskokan 05-21-2014 10:54 AM

So the 4-6 week wait time turned out to be... Like a week? Haha installed it yesterday and it sounds amazing!! Glad I went with the 5" muffler they're still damn loud! So low and throaty can't wait to go for my next drive.

Don't have enough good things to say about nameless, in canada it'll be expensive though, import tax, exchange rate, shipping, made it pricey, but not a lot of options up here.

Muskokan 05-21-2014 11:13 AM

Hey do I need to reset ecu after the axleback? Car felt fine but when I was first leaving it kinda bogged at 2.5-3k and it usually never does that. Drove around for 10 min and all seemed well.
