Any downside for using Inlet Hose?

Maybe this was posted somewhere else.. but is there any downside to using a Inlet Hose (Perrin for ex.)??? Mechanical wise... like will the engine life reduce, or the extra air will generate any problems on the long run?

Might be a dumb question... but im a noob noob =)

thanks!
