Confirmation BRZ nav can play DVDs
Can anyone confirm that that OEM BRZ nav can play dvds? Been reading various different specs
|
According to the manual, video playback is only available via USB.
DVD playback is not supported. Another confirmation. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4930 |
still awesome you can play dvd through usb....so you could play a dvd off your phone!!! very fantastic for road trips!
|
The nav is loaded from an sd card, right? I'm guessing it won't read "dvds" then, just video files through the usb connection. (someone should verify that though)
|
Well if its only supported from USB that will also mean the lock-out feature in the unit which prevents you from watching while driving will be disabled. Im only assuming this because the unit probably wont have any sort of lock-out device anyway. Can anyone verify?
|
I'm sure it will have a lock out, if only to limit lawsuits. And I'm quite sure that video playback will be disabled while the car is moving as it's a distraction hazard.
On the plus side, the head unit does have the Divx logo. so Divx encoded movies should play. |
Has anyone with a 2012 Impreza disabled the lockout? (if it's the same head unit)
|
Does the headunit say "DIVX" on it? I hate it when they put that shit on there but don't really play :(

Hopefully we can perform a lower level bypass than that..
