Someone is lobbying pretty hard for a turbo BRZ (and FR-S?)

Toyota will refuse to do it, they are sticking to the back to basics sports Japanese light weight sports car theory, in the future we might see a more powerful tuned version or larger displacment, and lighter now that the Mazda is claiming under 2400 lbs for the new 200bhp 2015 miata

They make a turbo FRS. You will find it in the aftermarket but you have to do it yourself.

N1rve 05-06-2014 08:20 PM

Why don't you just buy a brz and add a turbo... the resources are out there..

Write in to its official Facebook page, and even go to your local dealer and complain that the BRZ lacks power. - See more at: http://carbuzz.com/news/2014/5/6/Eve....l4ODor9c.dpuf
LOL Yeah I'm sure Toyota and Subaru are going to redesign a car because of some people posting on a facebook page.

A turbo FRS would need a new 6spd manual gearbox. The 6spd in the stock car is good but it's not designed to handle 300hp. I know people with FI will claim differently, but they're running the risk on just their behalf. Toyota would be running the risk on their warranties and their brand name.

Toyota has 10,000 LFA engines they need to use. The '16 will have an LFA engine.

Because as we all know, they never made a turbo Z...

Like I said "watch it, all will become clear!" Your statement alone proves you too don't get it. "THEY" ruined the true sports car of Katayama's dream, with the addition of FI!

I still don't think they ruined them by turboing them. Emissions made them gain weight, so they did what they could to bring the power back. What "ruined them" was the zx's soft luxocruiser suspension (the 280 and z31) , but a few mods and they cut corners like a scalpel, and they're old enough now you can scrap the strangling emissions devices on them ;). And the z32? That thing is amazing. Until you have to work on it lol.

I personally think the twins are fine as is. The fun of a lower power good handling car is that you can get on it and having the fun handling. Handling is always fun, but high power can rarely be used. I think fix the torque dip, and what people have shown with basic n/a mods (cai, header, exhaust, tune) looks to be a d@mn fun car.

That voids your warranty. A factory turbo in an off-the-lot car would not. It's a very good and legitimate reason to not go aftermarket.
