The Arrival
My 86 was shipped to my house by the Toyota Balintawak Dealership on January 28, this is how it looked while it was still stock :)

86 Plate and VKool OEM Tints (Medium)
86 License Plate
Purchased and Installed at: Autokozmetix http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps0f408955.jpg One of the first things I needed to add were tints, since the weather could get really hot here in Manila. I chose V-Kool OEM Tints (medium all around) since they had the highest heat rejection based on reviews online. Apparently, it was initially designed for aerospace and defence applications. It works by reflecting heat rather than absorbing heat, as with most tint brands. Heat absorbing films can cause intensive heat build-up in the car due to re-radiated heat and thermal stress onto the glass which could result in glass breakage or cracks. I also didn't want to make it too dark since I had them in my previous car and had a difficult time driving at night. Hood Damper

If you don't guide it all the way through it looks like it would snap. But it doesn't really bother me, it still does what it is designed to do :) |
Subaru Fog-Light Housing (H11) and AC-Tech Fog-Light HID Kit (6000K - White)
To change my fog-lights to HID, I needed to change the housing since it wouldn't be able to take the heat:
Subaru Fog-Light Housing (H11) Purchased and Installed at: Autokozmetix http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps2f7823d1.jpg Here's the difference between the OEM Fog-Light Housing and the Subaru one, it seems to be darker: http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps12030d1a.jpg http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r...psfee63b2f.jpg AC Tech Fog-Light HID Kit (6000K - White) Purchased and Installed at: Autokozmetix http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps06eda3b6.jpg http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps3740c95e.jpg The fog-lights look brighter than the headlights in the pictures, but in reality it's just about the same. Comparing it to the stock halogen, it is a lot brighter and illuminates the road more consistently when driving at night. |
LED License Plate Bulbs and Rear Fog-Light Conversion
When the shop opened up the Reverse Light Housing, they saw that the Rear Fog-Light Light in between the reverse lights didn't have a bulb nor it had a hole or socket to put any. I guess it was meant to be just a reflector. I had them drill a hole into it in order to place a socket/bulb.
LED License Plate Bulbs / Rear Fog-Light Conversion Purchased and Installed at: Autokozmetix http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps844e9449.jpg The only thing that was a bit annoying is that in order to turn it on, the fog-light switch needs to be turned off and turned on again to activate. You will notice the orange rear fog-light light in the right side of your dash. Purchased and Installed at: Toyota Global City http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps89e01f64.jpg http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps7c9bd253.jpg The standard 86 variant looked like there was something missing at the back, adding the TRD Trunk Spoiler made it look a lot better. |
Pioneer AVH-8450BT Head Unit / Pioneer CD-IU201S Cable / Reverse Camera
Since I liked the User Interface of the Pioneer Head Units and use Waze alot to navigate around the city, i got the AVH-8450BT and the CD-IU201S to connect my iPhone to it in order use some compatible applications for the App Mode.
Pioneer AVH-8450BT Head Unit / Pioneer CD-IU201S Cable Purchased and Installed at: Autokozmetix http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps086176c3.jpg http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r...psf4d0b8d0.jpg Before: http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r...psb39c9a39.jpg After: http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps7abb96d4.jpg 86 Logo as a background: http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps19e8e062.jpg The thing I didn't like was that the OEM USB and AUX slots wouldn't work anymore since it was not compatible. I had to get an adaptor just to make the USB input to work. It was great to be able to see the Waze screen on the head unit. However, I had to install some updates in order for it to become full-screen. Moreover, there is also a bug where I cant type anything on the Waze application using App Mode. I usually need to set up where I need to go on my iPhone before connecting it to the head unit. Since I didn't want them to drill a hole in the trunk for the Reverse Camera, i got one that is attached to the light cover. Reverse Camera Purchased and Installed at: Autokozmetix http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps0475fdf3.jpg http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps0ee7b251.jpg http://i354.photobucket.com/albums/r...psc30f9418.jpg |
PIAA Superior Bass Horn
The stock horn was really puny and it sounded really bad, so I switched it with a louder one that had a deeper tone. The PIAA Superior Bass Horn came with two horns: 330hz and 400hz.
