Hey all, just wanted to let the community know that I finally picked up my car this past Saturday from Competition Subaru in Smithtown Long Island!
First of all, if you live in the Long Island area, this is the ONLY Subaru dealer you should consider for purchasing your car, everyone was really great, really friendly. There was 1 issue when picking up the car, I specifically asked for no front plate to be drilled in bumper and when I got there to pick it up, I saw they had drilled the plate in. No problem though, they swapped the front bumper with another SWP bumper they had on the lot within an hour.
I got the car with the Costco auto program price $300 under
invoice. Seriously if you are a Costco member or someone in your family is, go to the Costco auto program website and get an amazing deal on a car please, its really incredible.
The car is a 2014 SWP BRZ Limited with autodim homelink mirror and red LED footwell illumination kit. Driving home from the dealer was the happiest I have ever been driving a car in my life. And that includes driving the other cars available to me (C7 Z51 vette, lp550-2, CLS63 AMG-S...). It took me a half hour to get to the dealer and about 3 1/2 hours to get back :)
My previous car was a 360wtq third gen WRX and the first thing I was worried about was how disappointed I was going to be with the power delivery. When I test drove the car right out of my WRX, yes, there was definitely a big shock to pressing the accelerator ~2500rpm and feeling NOTHING. During the test drive the chassis felt VERY capable, miles ahead of the WRX. It was ultimately the seating position, interior, chassis, suspension, and general fun of ringing out the car regularly to 7400rpm that sold me on the BRZ. I have been driving the PISS out of this car since I picked it up, I have always broken in my cars HARD right out of the gate and have had the best results doing so. Also, I must say, since I have been driving it regularly, the driving dynamics and power delivery have improved from below average to acceptable to very fun!
Keep an eye out for my upcoming reviews of the OEM red LED footwell illumination kit, and a ton of Diode Dynamics LEDs.
