2015 WRX Subaru STI reminds me of something...

I know one car has body lines where the other doesn't.. But the similarities are uncanny...

Sti looks better

kalamitykode 05-04-2014 12:24 PM

The Lancer to me has always looked like a boxy version of the 07-09 Mazda 3 haha.

Andrew025 05-04-2014 12:29 PM

I don't think they look similar, other than the fact they both have the "newer 4 door car" look.

Burrcold 05-04-2014 12:33 PM

They look nothing alike.

Way to be original starting a new thread repeating the same thing people have been saying for the past 6 months... They aren't even that close.

Then again, look at all previous generations of the Evo and STI and show me 2 that didn't have any similarities. They're the same type of car meant for the same demographic. Obviously, there's going to be sort of styling similarities between the two.

Dark 05-04-2014 05:41 PM

Love the wing on STI, not so much on Evo.

GC8 FTW!

MokSpeed 05-14-2014 11:57 AM

Those that say they do not look similar must think the FR-S and BRZ look nothing alike too.

Anyone who thinks Evo X and 15 STI look more than 20% similar must be delusional. Subaru learned a lot from partnering with Toyota on how to not make a cheap looking car. New WRX/STI and Legacy/Outback look refined inside and out. Look into every detail of the design in "real life" instead of bashing it copying another by just looking at a low res pic on the net. Subaru doesn't really need to copy design from a company barely move a car from the lot.

I do see some similarities. IDK though apparently I'm delusional for thinking so.

chas3wba0 05-14-2014 05:28 PM

IMO, the biggest similarities are the rally wing and how far back the front wheels are behind the engine, because AWD

but really, come one. All sedans look alike these days

Take your own advice LOL. I've been inside the new Legacy and WRX/STi and seen them up close. As others have pointed out, the Evo and STi have had similar aesthetic traits in previous models. The interior is not the debate here, but if you want to point out other issues then you should keep in mind there's ancient technology under that hood that's definitely not worth 35-40 grand.

It's not the engine that's worth $35k-$40k, it's the suspension, chassis, and the dccd that comprises most of the unit's cost.

STI: Door integrated side mirrors, hexagon grill, stylist wing, more pronoun belt line, more forward a pillar, square taillight, quad pipe, separated front signal and lower grill, and on and on.

Having similar aesthetics traits and being similar are completely different. When an Evo drives pass you, you know it's an Evo not STI. Only people who think a Honda Accord looks like a 3 series would get confused between Evo X and STI.

Both are based off relatively-pedestrian-looking sedans, with go-fast bits added on.
Neither is particularly attractive (though being pretty really isn't important for their mission)

Is there any Rally Car that look sleek, hot, pretty ? Point me one.

For values of rally car? Sure. For values of show car? That question misses the point entirely.

whitefrs 05-15-2014 05:31 PM

Why are you guys hating on the Sti???

I went from a 450whp Frs to a 15 Sti and its a total different car

It handles better
Its confortable
More space
WAY BETTER INTERIOR
Brembo brakes
Bbs wheels
Moonroof
Leather
Harmon kardon audio system
Etc.........

It handles much better then my frs too.

I love boost!!!!!!

Having been around long enough I know you were joking but technically speaking Mitsubishi Motors just posted it's highest operating profits ever ($1.2 billion). While they're no longer catering to the types of vehicles us enthusiasts remember them for, globally they're selling a lot of cars and suv. Mitsu's not dead....they're making more money than ever selling cars none of us want to drive, lol.

I know. Their commercial truck line is very profitable. Originating from a country that has light pick up truck and commercial truck everywhere, I know Mitsubishi is very successful outside of the US, but here :/

Thank you for the review sir. For 10k more, it makes too much sense to drive the STI, or for the same price as the BR-Z, you can buy FA20DIT in WRX, which is amazing as well

So I take it you think wheel spin and oversteer = doesn't handle as well? I'd rather have a 300hp BRZ than a 300hp STI...

whitefrs 05-16-2014 12:01 PM

300hp brz is fun
