The new Tein 'Mono "Sport"'??
I just noticed today they're listed on ft86sf website for a May 2014 release. Any more news on them? What are the rates?
How do they compare to the older 'Mono Flex'? Will it be in a similar fashion to the Street Flex- in that the newer Street Flex are both cheaper and also better/newer-technology to the older plain 'Flex'? The Mono Flex hasn't been updated in a while..so I bet this will be an improvement..and cheaper to boot |
The MonoFlex has been discontinued and MonoSport line is the replacement according to tein. Tein states the monosport has a wider adjustment range to cover a wider spectrum of uses than monoflex yet coming in at a much cheaper price.
I think for our car the spring rates are the same as the old monoflex. I think for the price they sound like a real bargain and cannot wait for some real world reviews. |
Tein's product matrix gives an idea where they position the Monosports vs other Tein products (even products they're retiring). A real world comparison of the new Monosport vs. StreetFlex would be very helpful for those deciding on the $1500 - $1800 range of Tein's newer lineup (which seem to have big improvements over the old models). Something more than twin tube (7k-F/7k-R) vs Monotube (8k-F/9k-R). Guess we'll have to wait for anything like that. Additionally interesting are the Monosport "Touring" model. Would like to see how they differ in spring and valving from the Monosport standard.

OK so I was quite interested in these so I went on minkara carview, a Japanese car blog sort of website, to do some research.
I can't read Japanese and google translate wasn't much help, but it seems all the reviews are favorable. Sounds like they are about as capable as the monoflex on track and very comfortable on the street, however keep in mind that the road condition is generally much better in Japan than in US. Can't wait for more info and impressions @CSG_David :D |

180# springs in the front, 280# in the rear... I hope that's a typo.
