Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix May 2-4.
 

Anyone else planning to go this weekend? I may go out there Fri and Sat. Unfortunately I can't attend the main race on Sun. :(


The Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix, powered by Mazda, features the Monterey debut of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, America’s all-new premier sports car racing Series. The Series was created by the merger of the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car and American Le Mans organizations, both of which had a long history of competing at Mazda Raceway. The TUDOR Championship features two styles of cars, Prototype and GT (Grand Touring). Each style of car has two classes, Pro and Pro-Am, meaning there are four classes of racing on track together, each with their own battle for the lead.

Four other very competitive Series will also be competing, the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, Mazda MX-5 Cup, IMSA GT3 Challenge by Yokohama and making its first-ever appearance, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo.

Feature Race: Sunday, May 4, 2014

Tickets: Advance purchase general admission: $65 for a two-day pass. General admission and paddock is free for Children 12 and under with a paying adult. Hospitality packages range from $250-$510.

Support Races: Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, Mazda MX-5 Cup and IMSA GT3 Challenge by Yokohama.

Parking: Free parking available. Preferred parking: $30

Gates: Open at 7 a.m.

Aww man I didn't realize it was this weekend. I was planning on going to this but just slipped my mind. Maybe I'll figure out a way to get down there Saturday. Had a fun time last time I went a few years ago.

I used to go watch the American LeMans series at LS, which was a blast. I camped on the track to save some money and get woken up by the blaring engine noise during morning practice. I remember the Panoz and the C5/6R's were extra brutal, and so were the Astons when they were still around. Seeing the LMP class was fun too, it was around when the Audi diesels were dominating. Would be really interesting how this new series works out.

I should be there. I have tickets for Sat and Sunday! Cannot wait!

I just volunteered for the SCCA on Sunday. I'll be there for free!

I would love to go, but I'll be autocrossing.

We go every year. My girlfirend and I will be there on Sunday. I was hopeing to go Saturday as well, but we decided to go to the Travis air foce base air show instead.

Our first date was American lemans 5 years ago. :D

I am sad to see so many of the LMP car teams drop out of the new series.

I went to the Long Beach race last month. I usually try to get to both races, but since I'm going to the USGP at CoTA, I'm saving up.
