Anyone starting to realize that this is loosing value at a crazy rate?!
Please understand, I don't plan on selling the car anytime soon, but DAMN, this car's value is falling like a freaking rock! Absolutely LOVE this car, but with all the "special editions" coming out (which from what I can tell, it basically a BRZ version with an FRS front end), I'm starting to get the impression that none of them will be worth much money in the next couple years. I plan on holding onto mine until I can't keep her anymore (baby) or the 10 year mark, when it is time to pick up something else. At the same time, I'm concerned about this car turning into another honda civic. It's gonna suck if I can't get more than $5k for it when I sell it. I guess only time will tell, but with the way this thing is falling in price, I'm voting that the 13's will be worth about $15k in a year

Here's the thing. In 10 years, this car will be the next 240SX. The majority of twins for sale will be riced out, so clean ones will command premium prices!
Keep your car stock -> profit! :D Edit: raking in 'em thanks :D |

I suspect a clean, well-cared for near-stock FR-S will be worth more than the majority of them which will by then be riced-out junk.

:D
Good for me cause I plan on buying used. Seeing BRZ prices coming down. Awwww yisss http://x1.fjcdn.com/thumbnails/comme...032993f84e.gif Can understand the concern though. With value going down, the likelihood of the car being totaled won't be fun. And some companies can be stingy with insuring totaled cars. |

Everybody knows the biggest hit to value happens in the first year or two, they always level off after that unless there are issues or the car becomes obsolete for some reason. I'm honestly not concerned about the value until 5 years in. Private party and dealerships these cars are still asking $20k-$22k depending on usage and area.
240sx is a good comparison, same with Miata, these are niche market cars, I'd bet in 10 years clean low mileage examples will be desirable, just like the S2000. |
After talking to a friend who worked with toyota when they were debuting the 86...he said after 3 years the value will get better...its a new car completely with no real predessor...I mean its not a trueno remake exactly...and its had a few bugs so yeh the resale is crap right now. If they keep making them thatll change. Just gotta hold out for now...or get out while the price is down, dont think that would be a great idea though
