Have you scratched your wheels?
Wife made a turn a little too close to the kerb on the weekend. As a result, rear left rim was scratched, lucky it didn't hit the panel. Got some scuffs on top section of the rim now.
You guys still have pristine rims? If this already hurt, I can't imagine scratching those expensive aftermarket rims/wheels.... |
hit some unexpected slush last winter and rubbed the wall, hit pretty square so most of the damage was the rim scrubbing as it rotated. got a scratch/dent around the lip of the rear quarter fender that I have been pulling out with the pops-a-dent thing, but some touch up paint and a buff and it should be fine.

Made the mistake of letting sister's boyfriend drive the car. First wound on my baby was the front right wheel curb. It hurts extra when you are in the car to feel the damage being done and it's not you behind the wheel.
Strongly contemplated buying and new stock rim for $100 lol.. Sent from my HTC first |
Yep at a drive-through. The car is pretty low so I try to get pretty close so I can actually reach up to the service window. Got a little too close and rubbed the driver's front. It left a bit of a rash :mad0260:
It is not too noticeable but I still get upset about it. But I've had my eye on going aftermarket or the TRD wheels in the next couple years, so I try to shove it out of my mind... |
Yeah that scraping sound - especially when you hear it the first time - it's so heart breaking isn't it?
|
I had hit my wheels a few times trying to part too close to the curb and going through a bank drive-thru ATM with a narrow ass lane. I've gotten new wheels since then and am very, very careful. I just get out of my car now instead of driving through narrow lanes with curbs on both sides.

Drive thru ATM's exist?
Murica! Fuck Yeah! I always tilt my left mirror (RHD) down when I parallel park. But I always forget it's tilted down when i drive away and then go to mirror check and I'm like :mad0260: Need to stop doing that. But no scrapes for me so far. I had a paint chip off one of my black wheels when the guy was mounting my tyres but I have a matte black paint pen I keep in the glove that instantly cures them. Apply, leave for a minute, then drive off and thus spin dry. |
Aftermarket wheels on previous car for 3 years. 0 curbs
Stock car 3 weeks, 1 massive curb. I guess the steering was quicker than I was used to from previous car and I took an on ramp and hit the curb on the apex lolz. I was in my honeymoon phase and bought a new wheel a few days later. But I never installed it because I realized its just a car. I'll put it on when I get new tires. |
I thought I nailed the left front on my way out of my parking garage the first day I took the car to work. The rubber scraping against the barrier around the garage card swipe machine was loud and I thought I may have heard a bit of metal-against-concrete. All the way home, I was tempted to stop in the middle of traffic and jump out to see how bad it was. But the knowledge that I couldn't change it kept me sane enough to get home in one piece.
When I got home & jumped out of the car, I saw what looked like 6" of BAAAD curb rash and got that awful feeling we all know and love. Fortunately, I grabbed a paper towel and gently tried to gauge how deeply I'd damaged it.....and I discovered that it was all paint and gook that must have been on the barrier. It all came off, leaving a gently scuffed tire on an undamaged rim (and some gradually diminishing adrenalin shakes on an upset me). A few more minutes with wheel cleaner and tire dressing and I was good to go - and a lot more careful! |

I'm very careful about curbs, parallel parking, drive-through windows etc. but accidents happen. Luckily, there are plenty of companies out there that specialize in fixing wheels

Not in this car just yet. I had aftermarket wheels (Some fairly cheap enkei's) on my previous car. I tagged this same wheel on three different occasions when the wheel was on three different corners. Not sure why I hated that wheel so much, but it was a dark gun metal and a sharpie cleaned it up to a 5 foot scratch :).
|
I used Plasti-Dip on my black Enkei's and it worked perfectly. Blended extremely well.

Scraped my rear passenger side wheel cutting a turn to hard in the city, jumped the curb and scraped up the edge of the rim and took a small chunk out of the side of my tire. Spent the rest of the day hating myself for being stupid.
