Eibach Pro Kit Springs On My DD?
 

I'm new to this forum so if I make any mistakes in posting go easy on me:iono:
I was looking at the Eibach pro kit springs for my brz, i figure the 1 inch drop is enough to close some of the wheel gap without risking damage to the stock shocks and suspension parts since I don't plan to upgrade any of them with the springs. However, I would like to hear from some people who have lowered their cars with just springs... Does the car bottom out or have you hit the front/rear bumpers in daily driving? I'm just concerned as this car is my daily driver, and I'd like it to hold up as long as possible. Also, is the ride a lot stiffer? finally, would this upgrade risk damaging the stock shocks and suspension parts now or in the long run..? Any opinions/suggestions/experience would be GREATLY appreciated!:thumbup:

But to answer your questions, I have them on my car. I have had them on about 30,000 miles. They're great. No problems, don't really ride any rougher. The stock struts are still going strong.

I plan on doing this too, ive heard it depends how the springs are installed, but I will continue to read about it. I always hear about the Eibach and Sportlines but I want to read more about them. My aim is comfort..

Ive looked into those threads and done a little more research and I'd say it doesn't seem like a bad upgrade at all, definitely like the look.. However, i still can't seem to figure out whether or not the new ride height would be a problem in daily driving. I'm afraid that every time i enter a "steep" driveway or uneven road surface I may scrape the front lip or drag the rear of the car on the ground.. In your experience has this ever been a problem?

I'm running pro-kits on my stock suspension. The ride is definitely stiffer over stock, but I can live with it on a daily basis. Closes the gap just enough. I also have no issues going over speed bumps, and I really only have to go sideways over steep entryways. Most normal entry/driveways can be done straight on.

I even have the sti lip on mine and I don't scrape on much of anything. Big bumps coming off bridges on the highway, speed bumps, rough roads all clear fine. Make sure when installing to use an Allen key to hold the core in place as you back off the top nut, if not you can damage the struts.Attachment 76795

You'll scrape the front lip of the car. I do on mine, but you can't see it so I don't really care. The roads I drive on in south Texas are definitely not the smoothest, but I haven't messed up the suspension. The springs come with new bumpstops that help with the bottoming out over potholes and such. I'm very happy with them,

My 3 inch exhaust has 1.1 inches of clearance with eibachs.

I've had the Eibach Pros on stock dampers for 2 months / 3,000 miles. I daily drive in Baltimore. I did notice a degradation in ride quality, it's stiffer for sure. The stock setup was stiff too so the difference isn't that big of a deal. I have grown used to it and don't notice the difference anymore. I have not scraped on anything, but I am super vigilant about avoiding potholes and watching how I enter steep driveways. Just do it, you'll love it.

Thanks for your input... Just a side question, I saw that you were planning on putting new "LCAs" on the car to go with the lowering springs.. what exactly is this and is it completely necessary when adding the lowering springs?

Rear Lower Control Arms will allow camber adjustment of the rear tire/wheel. Only necessary if you want to adjust the rear camber.

As for ur clearance question, i have these springs w 18x9.5 +38 rims w 235/40/18 tires, no rub, no clearance issues, no need for lca, didnt even use the front crash bolts i had with me at time of install. Such a small drop it doesnt throw the camber out of spec.

So is camber adjustment possible with the stock control arms? I was thinking I could just take the car to get an alignment to fix camber post-installation and be on my way... I apologize for my lack of knowledge on the subject:iono:
