Running e85?

Will it or will it not? I can't seem to get a straight answer from all the sites that I've search on Google.
Would it be possible to get some straight answers from people that are currently running e85 in their frs.

I'm running e85 at the moment also and I've noticed that on cold start the engine stutters and choke for the first 30sec or so.. I've also noticed that my evaporation system is still showing up as incomplete despite driving over 400miles after flashing.

Just wanted to share my experience and also wondering what everyone's experience has been.

your car needs to be tuned for E85. If it is then youll be fine.

I don't see any reason for locking a thread that's asking engine related questions.

If it's that taboo to ask about e85 then my fault:bow:

Ive been running e85 for roughly 9000 miles and haven't noticed a single problem. I do change the oil a bit more frequently though, every 3000 miles. Not sure if it's necessary, there are mix opinions about e85 and its affect on oil. The proper thing to do is get an oil analysis and see whats going on.

Is this from personal experience? Or just what you've read

Bonks86 04-24-2014 09:36 PM

personal experience, My car has never sat for more than a friday night to monday morning. I have been running straight E85 since late last August. Found a bit of rust earlier this month.

In the cylinders?

You can use e85 even without a tune, but a tune is beneficial for optimal gains so I wouldn't see why one wouldn't get a tune. One thing is you should run a tank of regular 91 or 93 octane every now and then through the fuel system.

Just wait for the turbo guys from the turbo section to come over, they'll have more info. I've only ran e85 in my Duc when race gas isn't available, no issues so far.

I heard it melts the pistons

So many inconsistent information ; some say it's perfectly safe while others claimed otherwise.:(
