Car ETA so early?

Just received a call from my stealership here in Illinois. He was calling to inform me that my car was released from port in Seattle and was on its way here and to give me my VIN. He said it would arrive sometime between the 17th (today) and the 21st. I noticed that the first86 haven't all even received their cars yet, so how is this possible?

if youre not a first86 winner then you wont be able to take the car home. the car will be held at your dealership until june 1 for the official public release

if the car will be in their show room, then it will be open for the public to see, sit, and play around.

i suggest you call your dealer and tell them not to put it inside the show room

I've heard on here of some dealers letting people take their cars home but not marking the car as "sold" until the 1st. IMO the whole first 86 thing is a joke anyway.

My dealer has three coming in next week, that are already sold. Those first 86 who haven't even gotten their cars yet, I feel kind of bad for.

The dealer seemed more then okay in letting me take it home when it arrived. His words were "You ready to take it home when it comes?" so im assuming he will let me drive off with it.

If that isn't the case then when it arrives ill have him keep it off the showroom floor until I can take it home.

On a side note, called my insurance company, got quoted 789$/6 months with 100k/300k/100k coverage. I'm surprised its so low.

I think it would be ridiculous not to let people take their cars home if they are at the dealer. Especially if they started putting some of these cars on the showroom floor.

What dealer are you picking yours up from? Mine told me our cars are being held in West Chicago for another week.

Same from the dealership I pre ordered mine. They told me the eta of my car is May 21st. They didn't talk to me about not releasing it till June 1st. I'll get an update over the weekend about this.

Continental Toyota is the dealership btw in Illinois

All of the first 86 cars have to be delivered by 5/18.

Iirc, I read on here that they can sell them after the first 86 are all released but they can just wait until after June 1st to report it sold. But I could just be remembering that all wrong.

Mine was about $350. Including rental car coverage and the lowest deductibles possible (100 comp, 250 collision). I'm 32, married, have multiple cars with them, and have a clean record.

They don't HAVE to be, but that's their goal. It's not like they turn into pumpkins if they aren't delivered :)

I was originally going to go with Continental Toyota also, but ended up going with Oakbrook Toyota Scion instead. Continental keeps calling me still though :P.

Im 22, single, and only 1 car covered with them at the moment, with 1 moving violation, and a total vehicle wreck (not caused by me of course, girl driving and texting rear ended me).

Don't hold your breath. I have 2 that technically say will be here between the 17th and the 21st but I also have an email from the region telling me that even though those dates are there on DealerDaily (Toyota's vehicle management system) the vehicles are being held at port (not at dealerships) until the 28th.

That being said, I hope your guy can pull something and get it for you sooner- (I tried and was told that only the First 86 units were allowed to leave port before the 28th)
