STi style (knock off) front lip for BRZ - installation and thoughts (pics inside)

I've been wanting to put a STI front lip on my BRZ for a while. But the ridiculously high price of genuine STI part made me hesitant.

Soon enough, people in China started making replicas and they were being readily available on eBay and other forum sites through vendors in America.

One of my friends, who happened to sell ABS/PU cosmetic parts on eBay told me he got bunch of stuff for 86s. When I asked about STi replica lip, he said yes.

======UPDATE======
Now he has them on eBay!

I ordered quickly, and it arrived quick too.

This means, it really shouldn't matter where you order from. Fitment, quality, and finish changes all the time, from what I've been reading. Not to mention, the manufacturer is working to make things better every batch they make.

Installation was easier than I expected, even though I had no previous experience. There was no installation guide, but things were pretty self explanatory.

However, I didn't use all the screws it came with. I decided that about 4 on each side will work. The package comes with rubber lining, presumably for the 'wing' part of the lip. I ended up not using them because I had hard time putting them in place. Not to mention, it didn't look that great once I got them on.

Fitment is surprisingly good (as you can see in the photos).

I decided not to paint/plasti-dip it yet. In my opinion, it looks good as it is.. and when I get my side skirt and rear spat, I will try to match the color all together.

Enjoy the photos, and ask any questions you might have :)

I don't know the policy about posting links to vendors/eBay, but here's my friend's shop.

Here's a catch though, he hasn't posted STi style Lip on eBay yet. So I don't think you can order from him right now.

Very nice! We tend to use all the screws plus more up here in Alaska since the roads can be so rough. Doesn't hurt anything to make it more durable since if you bump something, whatever part that flexes is what will give up and crack. I've drifted into a snow berm and no cracks or deep scratches on my front lip!

Spring is here now, but gravel is all over the place since Anchorage doesn't use road salt. Lip still looks good!

I can't wait for you to get the matching skirts and spats. :respekt:

I got it from a friend who runs a shop on eBay. However, his eBay listing doesn't have what I got.

He might add it in future.

Part of the installation hardware, it came with two strips of rubber with very thin 3m tape on it. I think those were meant to be applied around the "wings" of the front lip, on each side.

However I decided not to.

I'm not sure which is which.

I can say that the material is plastic like, and not rigid at all

Wondering if this would work with a 2014 brz. The bumpers look the same. Really interested.

Yes it will since they're unchanged, even for MY2015. So you're good to go! Get 'er done!

For others, will you please share where you ordered them from and how much you paid for them?

Thank you.
