Powered subwoofer under driverseat
 

I was wondering of any has tried this? I have the small sound ordnance sub coming in tomorrow and I really want try putting it under the seat. I obviously would pump the seat as high as it will go. Has anyone successfully put a compact powered sub under the seat of their car?

You do realize how close to the floor the seats are, right? I have this all-in-one sub http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...NVX-QBUS8.html, which is even smaller than the one you linked to, and I still don't think it would fit under the seat.

Also, just a head up, an 8" sub is pretty useless in the trunk (just throwing this out there since you probably can't fit anything under the seat). I wish I'd have gone with a 10". I upgraded the door speakers/dynamatted the doors, and they sound so much better than stock that a sub really isn't needed (for my tastes, at least), but even with stock speakers, the door speakers drowned out the 8" sub in the trunk.

10" Rockford Fosgate powered sub in the trunk is decent sounding.

No chance you're getting that under the seat. The floor isn't flat at all, and the seat rails will be in the way (even with the seat all the way up).

Depending on how tall you are you could put it behind the seat though.

Damn it I knew it would be a stretch. I'm about 5'6 do you think it would work begins the seat? If it was in the trunk you guys don't think it will sound too good?

No way it can happen. I considered it when doing my audio. It wouldn't even work with a 6" shallow mount sub.

Quality will be much better in the trunk. No sense in going through all the trouble just to make your butt vibrate.

Go with a 10"+ sub and put it in the trunk. You won't hear that 8" one over your door speakers if it's back there.

I have 8" enlosed/pre-powered subwoofer in the trunk. It provides plenty of bass with nice settings.

No chance it'll work, and you won't even have the air volume for it to move sound effectively.

Also, that compact sub is discontinued...

A 10" sub in the trunk will do quite nicely, and with fiberglass corner enclosure won't take up much of your trunk room either.

I've got a JL 10W3v3 and it's excellent (being powered at 300 Wrms @ 2ohms).

i've got an alpine pdx v9 under the passenger seat.. at 2-1/2" tall, it is still pushing it a little, and i already cut out the foam below the carpet.. a 3-1/2" tall sub definitely won't fit..

well i just got the sub in. It fits under the seat no problem. i just need to get it installed to see if it sounds good under there.

what do you guys think is the best way to power them? crutch field told me i could just plug and play. how should i set the settings for them?

You replaced the door speakers? The door speakers run at 2 ohms. Your speakers are 4 ohms, and are getting about half the power that the original speakers were getting. You could replace the sub amp with this one, run it bridged at 90x2 @ 4 ohms, and really bring those 6.5s to life. You could run another of those amps at 45x4 for your dash and rear speakers, as well.

also the door speakers are fed a sub signal only, so the coaxials you bought are 1/2 useless in that location.

It's a pain trying to locate a 6.5" woofer that isn't a part of a component set or a two or three way coax. I asked kicker if they could sell me just the woofer from their component set, and they said no.
