Passenger Seat Alarm

I tried the search function but there are just too many thread with the words passenger and seat. What I am having is that it didn't really used to be a problem until recently. You know when the passenger seat thinks that you have a person sitting with you and is not wearing the seat belt, it shoots out a beeping alarm to fasten the seat belt. The thing is there is no one there. It is not a problem when there is nothing on the seat. I dont remember it to be a problem until recently but now even If I put my twisty sun reflector on the seat, it triggers it. If I put a single music cd in it's case on the chair, it triggers it. I don't want to have to put my 1 music cd on the passenger floor and bend down to grab it when I want to play it and hope it slides towards me. Or I shouldn't have to fasten the passenger seat belt to put "1" cd on the passenger seat.

Is it just me? Or has it always been like this with you guys?

Yeah, it's some sort of material interference - cellphones will also trigger it.

I've never had my cell phone trigger the alarm, but I had my purse in the seat (also no alarm) when I was in an accident, and it deployed all of the front airbags, as a result.

Hmm, ok thanks guys. I thought it was just me or it was broken or something.

cell phones are the thing that set it off usually. If its ever sitting in the bucket portion, it goes off. near the front - not at all.

That said, usually 15 lbs of other junk sets it off for me.

See, I've never had that problem. That would probably drive me nuts.

Does it go off for you even if your cell is in the center console by your elbow?
