Five axis limited retro
This could be a possible hoax. I haven't been able to find it on the five axis site yet, but it looks pretty sweet either way.
The story is Scion and Five Axis are making a limited ammount of these. http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b5...20143243_n.jpg http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b5...16733975_n.jpg FIVE:AD is working on development for a limited run of Five Axis Edition "Retro*Series" Scion FR-S vehicles. Influenced by the classic AE86 "High Tech Two-Tone" color scheme, this old school retro concept perfectly enhances the natural horizontal break line defined by the FIVE:AD Scion FR-S aero kit.FIVE:AD initially plans to offer this two-tone look in a gunmetal metallic color in combination with either Whiteout (white) or Firestorm (red) exterior colors complimented with FIVE:AD gunmetal colored wheels. Tell us what you think! |
Ok i do kind of like that. Still not a fan of the kit overall though.

Cool! Although, I'm sure it would be pretty easy to get it done yourself...
|
Its probably not real. Still looks kinda cool tho.

Best way is ask Five AD.... iirc we had a member that work at Five AD.

There was a time I scoured craigslist for old '80s cars (88-92 Corolla, Fiero, MkI MR2) for the sake of owning a 2-toner. Between the twins, WRB was my 1st choice and SWP was my 2nd but now this SWP retro ode to 2-tone is screwing up my resolve. Looks sorta tacky in this render and the red looks a bit more refined but then again it's just a render. I'd have to see it in painted metal.
My critique is that hard horizontal 2-tone lines worked so well on '80s cars because the sheet metal from that era were styled with hard, edgy lines. But the FR-S has modern curves and bulges that flow and abrupt/hard 2-tone lines would kinda interrupt that flow. |
Its accents seem subtle to me... Doesn't really spark my interest. I might change my mind if I were to see it in person.

I spoke with Troy in person. This is real and going to happen soon. It's not supposed to be a carbon copy for you initial D fanboys, fyi, it's a modern interpretation of a japanese livery styled to accentuate the kit's lines with the car.
BTW, I wasn't a huge fan of the kit UNTIL I saw it in person today. Wow... just understand these are one of those times where "pics don't do it justice". I was drooling over the 5 Axis car the whole night practically. Doesn't hurt they have their prototype foglight kit on the car either! |

FYI: "High Tech Two Tone" was an appropriate official product catalog option name for the AE85/86's two-tone paint option in 1984-87 in Japan market Trueno and Levin coupes. :D Nice name choice Troy@FiveAxis!

I like the red one.. not so much the panda one.
