First 86 issue and advice

Hello to all of my fellow First 86ers!!!

Today is the day that I get to pick up my First 86, but there has been a couple of issues that I have had with my dealer in which I would deeply appreciate any input you can give me on this situation. Last Saturday I decided to set up my car insurance for my FRS that arrives today and while I was talking with my insurance broker he needed to call the dealership to get some more info on the car. Instead of hanging up on him, I decided to go to my dealer's website to get the number to him when I see that the dealer website is updated with my Whiteout FRS in the showroom without telling me that it arrived. They already drilled holes in the front bumper to put the license plate on the front without telling me the car arrived. I immediately went to the dealership and saw my car there in the showroom opened up for everyone to touch it, open the doors and everything. I looked at the vin to make sure it was my car and sure enough it was. The dealer also added an $895.00 desert package that puts a clear bra like film on the door with nitrogen tires which makes up this package.
Yesterday I decided to let corporate know what happend in which the dealer called me back and said that I will not be charged for the desert package. Can you please give me some advice as I go into do the paperwork for the car?

Thank you

Damn, that's such :bs:! Desert Package!?! :bs:

Most of the new owners have had their cars tucked away and away from the public. What is the name of the dealership?

Did they allow people to sit in it? If not I think you got a pretty sweet deal if you like the film. The nitrogen is of course a joke.

If you did not specify in your sales contract not to drill the bumpers you are SOL.

Well at least they are giving you the stuff for free. Sucks to hear about the holes. I am going to try to get a plate adapter to go where the tow hook is.

Yes, they let anyone that came into the showroom open the doors, trunk, etc. Full access.

Id go over the paint with a fine comb. Any scratch you find, point it out. Also go over the interior, point out any marks or defects you find. Don't let them BS you saying in came in like that.

There's a local guy around here that was informed that his FR-S arrived. When he got there they begged him to leave it over the weekend for "marketing purpose" buddy took his car that same night.

If they want to have one in showrooms they should put in a order with scion for a demo.

I won't reveal the name of the dealership yet, but if something else is wrong with the car such as 20 miles or more then I'll let you know the name of the dealership, and what went down later on today.

Well, don't pass up the opportunity to get your car, but it is certainly worth it to tell others about this dealer's idiocy.

Post up a name and we will know not to trust them!

Enjoy your car though!

I have not done a sales contract yet. I called last week to have everything worked out on the weekend so that I did not have to do it today, but the sales manager said Scion corporate says it has to be the day I pick up the car.

thats unfortunate. These cars were specifically supposed to be hidden from the public AND from other salespeople. My dealership manager hid it in the back lot until the PDI and wash was complete. Id ask them to redetail the interior, and see what they can do about compensating you for the front bumper drilling. Sorry to hear you got jilted, the first86 program outside of California hasnt been as well orchestrated as Scion Corporate would have liked it seems.

Its here in CA and I'm supposedly having a party I think over it.

I dunno man, that's just disrespectful on their behalf. Keeping it on the showroom isn't bad if it was locked but drilling the plate, adding the extra stuff w/out contacting you and have it open is uncalled for.

It would happen to be High Desert Toyota in Victorville... ;)

Mr.Eightsix 05-16-2012 06:34 PM

I'm feeling the same way, and after reporting yesterday to Scion corporate the dealer apologized and promised they would take care of me. Let's see what happens though.

Look for boogers and sniff the seats for potential mud butt. lol
