My Brand New BRZ!

Hey guys, my name's Hans and I just bought a brand new 2014 Subaru BRZ Limited in Crystal Black Silica. I've had it for around two weeks now, and have racked up around 600 miles on it. I got it in manual (obviously), there isn't any other way (so I've been told). I learned how to drive stick on this car, which might be a stupid choice, but at least now I know. I'm actually only 18 years old, and am very lucky to have this car while only being a Senior in High School haha. I pay for it all myself, so didn't get any shortcuts there. Since I have this car, now I've been exposed to the whole aftermarket thing, with being able to customize different aspects. Hopefully I start to understand that aspect some more, as I'm definitely no expert just yet.

Anyways, just wanted to make a post, I did a crazy amount of homework on the car before I got it, and have actually been going on this forum constantly throughout my research of pre-purchasing it, and while owning it. Only now I've decided to make an account, and hope to be an active member of the community, I love how tight-nit it is :D

Anyways, I haven't gotten around to any fancy photo shoots or anything like that, so here's one of maybe two-thousand pictures I took at the dealership because of how excited I was. Thanks again!

Congrats and welcome! I had a 71 Ford Pinto when I was a senior in high school...

Congrats! How does an 18 year old high school student pay for the car and insurance? I must have messed up growing up. :laughabove:

Nice choice dood. When I was your age I had a VR4 Galant that I pretty much terrorized my area with.

ZionsWrath 04-19-2014 11:42 AM

Well if you are living in your parent's basement while paying for your new car, that is a shortcut!

But hey, I'm doing the same thing and I'm 7 years older lol, so I' not hating :D

What mods you going to do? Plans to track it?

I had an '87 Pontiac Sunbird with a wasp's nest behind the driver side mirror when I was 18...

Congrats on the BRZ!

Wow congrats bud! And yes you are a lucky bastard. I drove 89 eagle premier.....biggest POS when I was 18. Bit of advice, 1) get your bumper covered right away, as I regret not doing mine and now I have 45K Km's and tons of rock chips. 2) DON'T speed ever, because your insurance will go through the roof with tickets! I know this from experience , as I had a 84 300ZX turbo afterward and couldn't get insurance for it for long time until I could pay $500/ mo for just liability. I'm sure if you won't be able to afford it unless you have a trust fund. And 3) enjoy it, and drive it stock for a bit just to get a feel ft what mods are wants and needs before spending money.

Thanks guys! I'm only able to afford it because of an online business I have that does pretty well, and I also work an 'actual' job at a hotel on Virginia Tech's campus. I get a nice student wage even though I don't go there (yet) haha, so I'm grateful for that as well. I do want to do some slight modifications such as a SRT Header-Back Exhaust and maybe some blacked-out rims. I was going to go for an airaid intake but when I mentioned that on the Facebook page I got swarmed with NO's haha. Convincing my dad to let me mod it will be some trouble though :(

I really have no idea how to install any mods on a car period. I'm pretty much as big of a noob as it gets with mods. I mean, I know what the mods do to the car, but have no clue as to how I would go about installing them, and I have no idea how to decipher what mod is better over the other. So I'll most likely be coming to you guys for help on everything.

I just recently got a big paint scratch on my bumper, luckily it is barely right underneath the visible part of the bumper, so you have to lay down and look under it to see it, but it just barely missed the front. There was a giant dip when I was trying to go from a parking lot onto the main road in front of it, and being the fantastic driver I am on stick (just learned lmao), I scrapped the bottom of the road, and my heart stopped..

Here's a picture, it was at night so its not that visible, but its that big ugly scrape on the left.

Anyways, I just finished washing here this morning, just a quick picture.

Nice ride and welcome!!!!!!

Looks great! Black is my second favorite color.

My bumper has some scrapes from the previous owner, it happens. My last car was 4" from the ground, so driving the BRZ is a piece of cake :D

There are tons of tutorials on here for many mods. I've learned almost everything on know on forums since I got my first car years ago.

Congratulations! Car looks great! And I'm impressed that you paid for it yourself. Way to go!
