Reading codes for TPMS

I am in the process of buying summer wheels and I'm trying to get my TPMS sensors situated. I decided to buy a new set of sensors for the new wheels and I'd like to clone the new set to match my stock wheels so I can just swap wheels without having to re-program anything.

Does anyone in the NJ area (Monmouth\Ocean county) have a ATEQ tool or something similar to read these codes? I am willing to travel to you. I plan to get new sensors from Titan TPMS and have them clone my OEM ones. The ATEQ tool is approx $150 and would only be used once so it'd be (almost) a complete waste.

6 pack of your favorite brew to whoever can help me out.

Thanks!

Discount tire did it for me for free. I swapped wheels with a guy and we didn't swap TPMS's, just wheels. It took them 5 minutes to reset.

There's no discount tires near me, but maybe I can use Goodyear or STS. All tire shops should have these readers\programmers, right?

Hopefully a forum member with a reader will chime in.

Can the techstream software do the TPMS code change?

Just curious.
And can Tactrix OP2 work with techstream? Anyone tried it?

I just ordered 4 sensors from eBay Toyota PN PMVC010 which have been confirmed compatible with the BRZ, and the ATEQ Quickset tool from Amazon.

Total spent:
4 Sensors: $46.00
ATEQ Quickset tool: $150.00

I'll post my results once I receive everything an attempt to program them.

Hey did this work out for you??

Thanks

Yes, it worked flawlessly!

So the new sensors can just be cloned to the same as the old sensors? You can just swap summer/winter tires each year without having to reset them every time? Does tire rotation affect anything?

I just bought a set of wheels/tires/sensors from a fellow member and am planning on getting snow tires mounted on them. I want to be able to swap them each year. I thought I had to buy an Ateq Quickset to program them every time I swap them. So you're saying I can just clone them?

B-R-Z 11-03-2014 01:21 PM

If you can get cloned sensors then yes you can just swap wheels with each season with no other action needed. I don't think you can alter the id's of factory sensors if that's what you're thinking... you will need a new set of sensors and you will need the id's from your stock sensors to be cloned.

If you have unique id's for each sensor then you will need a quickest or similar tool. Wheel rotation does not affect anything.

Thanks for the reply. I have two pairs of stock sensors. I just ordered the Quickset and will have the tire shop record the new IDs when they install the tires.

Try to emphasize accuracy when they record the id numbers for you, or if you can be there take pictures of each sensor where the id is printed. I misread one of mine and my tpms light came on due to me setting one of the ids wrong onto my ecu. Fortunately I took pictures and was able to take a second look and fix the programming (misread D for 0 or vice versa).

Thanks, yes, I will try to take pictures to be 100% accurate. And the Ateq reads the original sensors that came with the car through the ECU, correct? No need to take tires off the original wheels to get those codes?

That's correct
