Dealer Improperly Mounted Front Plate
Hello all,
I'm new here, I recently (about a month ago) accepted delivery of my new '14 BRZ after a taxi ran a red light and took out my '13 Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track. When shopping for a new Genesis, I test drove and fell in love with the BRZ. The Genesis was definitely faster, but the BRZ is much MUCH more fun. Anyway, I have had a slight problem with my dealer. It was very dark when I accepted the car and didn't look at it carefully enough. After giving it a good wash and wax, I realized the front license plate mount was not mounted in the center. It's only about 1/8in off, but it's still noticeable by myself and others. Is there anything I can do about this? The dealer told me to 'bring it by', but I doubt they're going to do anything for me. This really eerks me, and I really just want the thing fixed. Has anyone had any similar experiences? Here's a photo: http://imgur.com/GBaS2DG |
I'd redrill the holes on the bracket 1/8th over, that way you don't have 2 sets of holes on your front bumper

My first thought was ...... DANG, get over it ..... REALLY a first world problem! However, if it really bugs you you could do as ScorpionOzzy suggests ..... or, "slot" the holes in the plate itself with a rat tail file, then position the plate it in the center. Oh, yes, just to set your OCD off real good, notice that the outside mirrors are different ..... :eyebulge: Hey, have fun with your new car! humfrz |
If it helps, I have don't even notice the imperfection of the alignment. Most drivers and people out there won't notice unless you point it out.
But if it REALLY irks you, then follow the instructions above(: |

Thanks for the welcome to the forum! After reading a lot of the posts here, I think I'm going to fit right in. Like the car, ya'll seem pretty awesome.
So you think I'm OCD? You're probably right - no getting around that. Not about everything. But my cars? Definitely. So far my BRZ has been detailed (by me) more times than it's been filled with gas. I guess you could say detailing is a new hobby of mine. Anyway, back to the matter at hand - a rat tail file would be a great solution! I just can't seem to get the darn plate mount off. Any suggestions on that front? Also, I should have noted the green line is the middle of the bumper and the red is the middle of the plate mount. It's close, and indeed a first world problem, but I have high expectations when purchasing a new sports car. |
Move to a state where you don't need a stupid front plate. Then acquire a new bumper.

Personally I'd recommend seeing what the dealer can do for you first before you mess with it since they are the ones that did the work. Just my $0.02.

I hate plates I literally spazzed the F*** out at the dealership and told them if they drill holes in my bumper to mount the front plate I will not buy the car lol

Dealer was like, "Heyyyy bring your car around and we can put it on for you"
Me "NOoooooooooooooope, I''ll install it when I get home" took off with my plates lol. No FP ftw |
