Full blown on AT FRS?
So I have a 2013 AT FRS and im leaning towards Full blown for FI.
Im deciding between the stage 1 and stage 2 turbo kit and would like some help or any information from any other AT owners that have decided to boost there car. Would either kit require other upgrades like internals or trans? If so what else would i need to purchase? Thanks any help is appreciated |
I know for a fact you wont need internals for the engine, not sure about the durability of the Auto trans tho.

The auto trans seem to be doing well with force induction. I would recommend a trans cooler and a possible fluid flush depending on millage. I would also recommend a good flowing exhaust system, catch can / breather, and an oil cooler would not hurt. Not knowing your climate a radiator may not be a bad idea as well. These are the typical things I do when adding force induction to these cars. There are upgrades available for the trans as well.

I'm FI on AT. It is holding up fine for now (~3000 miles). 8.5psi atm, about 295whp/225tq. Have not tracked it or beat the shit out of it yet though so the longevity is unknown. I do have a trans cooler and did a Redline AT fluid change just in case.
I am planning on installing the oil cooler once the temp starts to rise but I am in the PNW so never gets super humid/hot. I don't like to block my FMIC so I will be installing the oil cooler behind my driver side fog light (BRZ) and do a fog light delete to get some air flow in there. As for the upgraded rad, I think it is a good idea, but depends on your climate/purpose of the car. For freeway pulls, DD, I have not seen my coolant temps in unusual ranges. Internal wise, many tune shops/mechanics thinks it will do fine to about 350whp, but the longevity will suffer for sure. Expect a full rebuild around the 50k mark if you maintain your car decently. Vented hood is probably a good idea, and a trans cooler is a must imo. Meth kit will keep the temps down as well. |

Look into SSP, they have a torque converter, trans cooler, and valve body upgrade
