Passenger DRL Bulb Burnout Help

Hey Everyone,

When I got my car, I noticed that the passenger DRL light did not work. The blinker and hazards work fine since it is a dual filament bulb.

I went to Autozone and picked up a set of new 7444's and installed one. Everything was working fine. Then just today the same thing happened. The DRL only portion of the bulb blew. You can clearly see a hazing inside the bulb from the failure, but the blinker side of things still works.

Can anyone offer suggestions on what to check / how to troubleshoot? If there was a short, wouldn't a fuse blow before the bulb?

You probably mean the yellow light that lights up when the headlights come on instead of the passenger drl, right?

No, the turn signal/DRL triangle light that is just above the foglight area. It has a 7444 dual filament bulb and the DRL portion of the filament blew a second time.

I think you are confused. That is not a DRL. Your DRL's are located right next to your lowbeams. They are DRL's during the day and double as high beams at night. The triangle you speak of is your turn signal and parking lights. They will only come on when your headlights are turned on to either the parking light or full headlight settings.

Ah yea! Wow! I'm an idiot. My apologies. I do mean my turn signal / parking lights.

Any idea what could be going on? I was thing of getting some switchback leds for them but i wanna figure out if it was just coincidence or if there is an electrical issue first. I don't really know where to start to troubleshoot.
