chicago daily drivin
Anyone here got some advice? Trying to lower my car in the near future. I was told by multiple people (even the owner of p&l motorports) to go the spring route but the only problem is i want to ensure a perfect fitment. Im also thinking about gettin megan coilovers, anyone heard anything bad/good about them as far as seizing in the winter or anything? ( i daily my frs year round in chicago and dont care for comfort)

I dd my car in Chicago (from Lincoln park to the loop) with coilovers (not slammed, around 1-1.5" lower). If you drive carefully and slow down or completely avoid going over the massive potholes that this winter left us, you should be fine. I bottom out sometimes when there is no way to get around a dip in the road, but I usually try to avoid those roads all together. I would go with a quality spring/strut combination, if you're looking for a handling improvement with a mild drop and don't require height adjustability, over a budget coilover. Just my .02.

If you want perfect fitment you're going to have to go with coils. Seeing as you're in Chicago, you should take a look at Stance since they are local. I've been running them up here on the shitty Green Bay roads all summer/winter and everything seems be performing well still. Like SportInjected said, make sure you slow down for massive dips and avoid huge pot holes and clean them up a few times over the winter if you can to prevent seizing/corrosion.

From my time in Chicago I remember the potholes as bad, but the frost heaves that went all the way across Lake Shore Drive and were almost as high as a curb were far scarier. I would never have lowered a car back then.
