Forced Induction Tuner Selection

As I get closer to my install date in the not so distant future my lack of a tuner is starting to worry me.

I purchased the FA20club kit, finally received all the components (from what i can tell). Now i'm planning on scheduling an install day for July. I have yet to nail down a tuner how ever. I paid for a full tune with Toni from Fa20Club, but we all know what happened there. I don't think i can handle the down time it would take him to get it tuned, I'd probably be waiting another year :(.

Moving forward i have found a local tuner that i was referred to and I know has a good reputation,BUT they say 93 octane only nets 285whp and e85 would get me to 350ish.... This concerns me as this does not seem to be the case on the forums and in speaking to others with FI.

What have you guys done?
Would you really rely on an E-tune or allowing your car to be the learned on by a tuner inexperienced with the platform?

advice?

BTW i live in Houston.

I would never rely on an E tune, I'd rather the tuner no matter how experienced to tune it on the dyno and on the street.

Advice? You won't like it but; sell the kit and buy a different one. Any other kit will have a much lower chance of not fitting.

That being said, there are many members and more outraged customers by FA20club/TR3 performance on multiple forums, including this one. I wouldn't be surprised if you got the same advice.

If I had FA20Club parts for my car, I'd rather fabricate my own and run those parts. And the last time I welded was in the 6th grade lol

Get a dyno tune. Hands down much better results and able to hold someone locally responsible. Every car is different every combination of mods creates a different result so you really can't tell how many horsepower you will end up with. If you are installing the FA20club kit yourself I wish you luck mine had to be modified extensively to fit properly. Also I would get some way of sealing up the exhaust flanges as mine have leaks.

Hello,

We highly recommend our Texas Authorized Dealer/Tuner BoostLogic. Give them a call and let them know P&L Motorsports sent you, they can perform the install and tune for you. http://www.boostlogic.com

Thanks

I was not intending on doing it myself but rather have D3PE do the install as they would be able to correct and/or fabricate around any issues they may encounter. I just don't have as much faith in their ability to tune the fa20 as i'd liek to have.

Thanks for the recommendation on boost logic!!

I had no idea boost logic was in Texas. Lucky you

We do lots of remote tunes for just about any setup. Feel free to give a ring or an email, we haven't met one we couldn't tune yet.

Boost logic are heavy hitters in the tuning world and they're probably only a few hrs from you.

You don't want to use a tuner simply because he didn't give you an inflated power expectation?

Have you talked to @Synack ? He is the only person I know of that was tuned by D3PE with a turbo kit. He had their turbo kit with a big turbo and lower compression pistons though.

Honestly Chris at D3PE can tune the FA20 better than anyone I know of on this forum. Every bit of the RPM range from idle to redline and everything inbetween is flawless.

FYI Chris is the same guy that tuned the Hennessey Venom GT among MANY other monsters of cars.

Return your FA20Club shit, get something else. Support someone who respects the community and doesn't have 4+ aliases while dropping bombs on multiple car communities. Just my input ... now just waiting for all the "Thanks" <3

See that's the problem return it to get what? A refund? It takes such a long time between delivery and payment you can't dispute the charge or apply for a refund through paypal. I exhausted every option with mine in that regard and the simple matter is if he takes as long to get you refund as he does sending out your parts you are now 8+months with money spent and no parts. You are better off installing the kit with help from a shop to make the modifications to ensure proper fit. Been there done that.
