2013 BRZ Dealer cant get keys to Drop From Computer to Program New Keys
Hey Guys, I have just bought a pre-owned BRZ about 2-3 weeks ago and I received 2 brand new keys that will open the Doors Truck but the keyless will not work, I just received a phone call from the Service manager and he says they have 7 Subaru Techs that cant figure it out and what is going on is the computer thinks that it is a push button start with my luck it Is not so it is not wanting to drop they keys. This is super frustrating because I did not buy a New car to open the door with a dam Key! I was wondering if any one has had a related issue or How hard would it be to switch over to Key less? I Feel that this would be a large request but just trying to see my options.
the key looks like a Scion Key (No Push Start). The Issue I am having: the Key fob will not unlock the doors or trunk nor will it Lock Vehicle, you have to use the Key to Physically unlock the car or push the unlock/lock button in the Car. The Dealership Says: there is a max # of keys programmed to the Car already so it will not let them Program another nor can they Drop the Keys From The Computer to Start Fresh Subaru Techs (According to Subaru Service manager) Say: the Computer thinks that is a Keyless entry/Start, witch it is not and according to them That is the issue they are having. Thank you guys for any in feed or advice it is all very much appreciated!!!! |
You tell them to call other dealers and figure it out. Look it up in the manual maybe?
|
Sorry, I should have clarified, The 7 Subaru Techs are not at the Dealer Ship I have been Working with they could not figure it out so the service manager called 'Subaru' directly and they have there techs working on there BRZ. That is what I have been told. It is just really frustrating. I have looked in the manual in the car and Have not been able to find anything helpful. I found the Dealer Mechanic Manuel on one of the forums but I have not been able to find something in that either but I am Still Looking.
Thank you a lot for Input! |
what do your keys look like?
also, your post is difficult to comprehend. |
Sorry, Rage Forum. Should Have Pulled all my thoughts together after I got Off the Phone with the Service manager.
The Keys I currently Have are the Scion Style. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/data:...brHR0JEL0f/9k= |
It looks Like a Scion Key (No Push Start). I apologize With the Rant Just Got off the Phone With the service manager.

Dose this explain it better? |
Just maybe, you can try the Toyota programing tool.
check with Scion dealer? Your dealer might call ahead for you. I believe the computer is Toyota. |
You'll need a new modulator, they cannot program a new key without a functional old key that can access the computer. When you need two brand new keys on any new car you also have to replace the board that is linked to the old keys.

I actually purchased it from a Toyota dealer and they also own a Subaru dealer (hour away). I can take it in to them and ask to at least give it a shot.
|
Was this a repo'd car and they don't have the original keys or something? Something seems off .. a wreck that has had some electronics replaced?
|
They have to Replace the Modulator? There is no Way to Drop them From the System? the Car was Purchased in New York and then they Shipped it to Washington State where I purchased it used, The Dealer had to get two keys made because they did not get any with the car...I didn't see it on the Car Fax but it seems from what I heard it was because they couldn't pay for the car.

there was no wreak or damage to the car it is in very good condition and looks to be well taken care of. but I almost feel like I am getting jerk around. just as you say something doesn't feel right.

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/third...iquote_off.gif Congrats on your WRB BRZ that is bad ass! thanks for your input with my issue any help is much appreciated

I forget the exact term for it but the computer that linked remotely to your keys (the fobs, not the physical key) 9 times out of 10 can't add a new key or drop an old one without an old one present to do it.
