First Oil Change [GTA]

Hello,

Looking to get my first oil change for my BRZ. Which subaru dealership in the GTA do you recommend getting my first oil change done?? How much does an oil change usually cost?? Closes dealership to me is markham and/or scarborough subaru but i've read some pretty bad reviews from both. Anyone have experience with downtown subaru / willowdale??

Thanks

It's so easy, why don't you just do it yourself?

Never went to the dealer for oil change, but I'm going to assume it'd be around $100~. Assuming they used synthetic oil, then you add labor charges. Make sure you tell them you only want oil change (synthetic), and nothing else... don't want to get hit with other random inspection, changed this for you, etc. fees.

I thought the first oil change must be changed by the dealership or the warranty is voided??

If you don't mind learning and getting your hands dirty, try doing it yourself. I did my first oil change this past weekend with this car and it took me half an hour.

Switch to the Fumoto value and all future oil change will take you less than 10 minutes.

First oil change is free of charge on any Scion FR-S at Toyota Dealership.

You can check it out if Subaru does the same thing

I can see the case if it's a lease? Otherwise, I don't think so...

Best to contact the sales person who sold you the car to make sure or contact Subaru of Canada.

If you do your own oil changes, make sure to write down the date you changed oil and the KM done at. Just for some tracking that you did your own services at suggested/correct intervals, in case some bs that comes up with them when you go in for warranty.

Not that I am aware of. Sounds like BS the dealer told you. But I'm open to correction.

If that's the case, since I already did my first oil change, then I think I'll cancel the Electric Supercharger order and go Stage 3 turbo. :party0030:

Maybe for an Audi or BMW, but my local Toyota does it for $60

Honda leases allow the lessee to do their own oil changes. Can't speak for Subaru/Toyota, but I'm on a Honda lease right now.

I just went Mobil 1 synthetic, but some others don't like it for some reason. I've used it in cars and motorcycles for a long time without issues. That said, I'm probably going to switch to NAPA (see Valvoline) synthetic because it's on sale for $3.49/quart right now.

If I were running a stage 2 or stage 3 turbo kit, I might be using Motul or some other really expensive oil, but I don't really think the issue with oil is breakdown - at least not in 5000-6000 miles. IMO, the primary issue with oil is when it gets dirty. A good synthetic could probably go 10,000+ miles as long as you kept it clean (see running it in a closed, low dirt environment).

But that's just my $.02 worth. YMMV

I use Eneos 0w-20, not the Sustina though.

That's pretty good, about like $15-20 more than the synthetic oil I user per change? $15-20 for labor, sounds fair

Yeah, have a friend who also does his own on his lease, all depends on dealership though.
