For the options you get on the BRZ, it's worth the 3K. I'd rather get the FR-S, save the 3K and use it for more useful items like suspension, better air flow, wheels etc.

I keep forgetting that we still got to buy new wheels and tires, and lowering springs...that is if you are not going to keep it stock, if you are its better to go with the BRZ.

For those of us who are eligible for the college grad or military rebate, the $2200 price difference may not be worth it. And in my opinion aging nav systems in cars are so frustrating; I'd rather use my smartphone which gets upgraded every few years.

Certainly if those are 3 things you want, plus say WRB then definitely the BRZ is great value. But if that $1200 is going to be a new set of rims or something else want, not so much.

The worth in the question of the OP is a wholly personal one, making this more of an IMHO thread than most.

WRB is the only, i repeat only reason i would even consider a BRZ... That color is the best, with whiteout in a close second... But WRB is still the best IMO...

I understand everyone thinks the FR-S is a good option for its pricing & the extra 2.5k can be used to other things such as wheels, supsension & etc. I see it this way... Either car I get Im not gonna buy new wheels right away, Im gonna burn those tires to the wear bar. Which would be at least 2 years or so. Then I will get a nice set of 18's to throw on with new tires. As far as suspension, I'll throw springs on probably around the same time as the new wheels to give it a nice drop. As far as other goodies, such as exhaust or intake & etc. I will do them from time to time. Wanna keep it as a N/A daily driver with nice add ons, simple.

The way I see it, I can only get a Toyota, Scion, or Lexus brand new because someone in my family works for Toyota, if I wanted anything else I would only be able to afford something used, so the BRZ is out the door for me instantly, although even if it was an option, the FR-S is something I can barely afford as is (I know, not the smartest choice, but I've never wanted something this bad before and actually been able to do it) so the BRZ is still outside my price range.

I'm hoping that when my four year lease is up I'll have a better paying job and more money to play with (and also a healthy market of aftermarket goodies for it) so I can potentially buy it out of the lease and customize it then. I think in the long run, since that's what I'm planning for, the price difference is a bonus. I pay less over the life of the car, once it's been a few years the difference will work in my favor and I'll have more flexibility.

Granted, this idea might not hold much value for people ready to do stuff now.

Oh noooo. I hate the push button start proximity key fob. I am sure I am not alone in this hatred among the manual transmission and no navigation crowd. I would love to drive a six speed G37 or 370z but that feature alone would/has stopped me from buying one. I have searched the forums to see if there is a way to replace it with a real key and so far I have found nothing.

The push button start and navigation on the Subaru has made the decision for me that I will be looking to buy the Scion FRS that has a real key and a standard radio/cd player.

LOL!

Whatever dude, you are old school! Just get the BRZ premium, replace the Navigation with a basic stereo and call it a day.

Only the BRZ Limited has the push start with proximity not the BRZ Premium.

I agree WRB is the best on the BRZ (I still like black and the gray too)

And Whiteout is the best color on the FR-S (I also still like white and gray too)

Its the HIDS, the parts are $1600 for the BRZ hids, which nobody knows if it will work on the FR-S.

I feel for $3k more, the BRZ Limited is kinda worth buying. So I been leaning more towards the BRZ at the moment. I think it would be less costly than adding these things myself to the Scion FR-S. The foglights, HID's, keyless entry w push start, nice suede & leather seats, heated seats, Navi Radio, spoiler, digital climate control. I'm not sure if anyone has info if Toyota will have a limited version yet in the states or will these add ons be available for around the same price?

I take it that means you received a response from Scion saying you couldn't get the goodies from the GT 86 Limited.

Nooo... I haven't received a response back yet, I hope I get one soon though. Ill put money on it right now, once Toyota sees how much profit Subaru is making off of the BRZ Limited they will come out with their own version just like it. I think that would be call a 86 GT Limited. Bahahaha!!!

I hope so.

I went into my dealer yesterday as they had an asphalt FR-S, with sold sticker, and sadly an auto. The manager of the the Lexus side and the head Scion guy for the dealership were standing by the car and talking when I showed up. I've met them both before but never spoken to the Lexus manager about the car. He saw me looking at it and asked "so, do we have a sale?" as he smiled at me. I looked at the Scion badge on the trunk and said "Not as long as it has a Scion badge." I looked up at him and continued "get me the Toyota with all the options and then you have a sale."

That sent him off balance a bit but he asked why and I started listing off options, after a few I said the Scion guy has the list of differences, I gave it to him to see if he could get me the parts before. Which they told me they couldn't.

Interesting enough, the story has changed now, according to the Scion guy, the FR-S they have doesn't exist right now. There's some issue with documentation and they can't even give the car to it's owner yet because of it. This is possibly the same issue preventing them from ordering the parts as well. There may be hope yet.

I wonder if anyone in Canada can confirm this "document issue".
