I am a fan of the BRZ myself, especially because it has HID. I thought the subaru price did not add destination charges while the FRS does. So in reality, it would be a little north of $4k. Am I mistaken?

Carbon fiber trunk when/if available down the road?

Maybe if they'd pay me for it, but the trunks are vin stamped so I'd rather not do that.

yeah I don't know, I just have a hard time justifying 28k, or 30k out the door, for this car. I like the extra features of the limited but I can't get over that price... there's a lot out there for 28k. My goal for this car is to pay it off asap and trade it in for something else in a few years when the new WRX and possibly turbo BRZ/FR-S are available, so to me I'd rather not have that extra 2000 to pay off. I am tempted by the limited since it would only be about $30/month extra, but then I keep coming back to that 28k price tag, it's just too much for this car imo.

I think I would much rather have the BRZ personally, but for some people a more spartan car for $3k less if money later for mods. $3k can buy a lot of aftermarket goodies.

So it's nice to have a choice :)

I dont care if all they did was put a rear view on the car. When i say brand loyalty, i mean it in every sense of the word.

It doesn't really make sense to be loyal to Scion but not Subaru though. Scion is a subsidiary of Toyota; Subaru is owned in-part by Toyota. Either way, you're getting a Toyobaru.

Not only that but putting Scion bumpers and exterior badges on a car thats VIN decodes as a Subaru and has a Subaru badge on the steering wheel is just beyond ghetto imo.

For me the extra 3K would not be worth it. I would be buying this car because it is a minimalist sports car. I would much rather use the 3K for coilovers and better tires.

That is a great point. As a daily driver, I would prefer the BRZ. The interior looks much better to me than the FR-S. But.. If you just want a fun car and plan to mod it. The FR-S seems like the better deal.

HotLavaMann 05-16-2012 01:30 PM

Totally worth it to me. The nav, lights, leather heated seats, spoiler all add up to make it worth it. I happen to prefer the front end of the FR-S more than the BRZ but if you don't mind the BR-Z front end, go for it. I will add that the FR-S interior is ok but nothing to write home about. It feels and looks spartan.

The car is Subaru engineered and assembled. Come warranty time do you want a Subaru tech working on your car or a Toyota tech who's probably never touched a Boxer engine before? Well, at least the trans is a Toyota IIRC.

I was convinced I wanted a Premium BRZ because of the Nav and the HIDs. However, after seeing the horrible performance of the Nav I'm heavily considering going with the FRS and simply upgrading the head unit myself. Not the preferred option since I was hoping to keep the audio stock but oh well...

If you want a bare bones car the FR-S is a great deal. If you want a more loaded unit and willing to pay extra then you get more value from the BRZ.

$0.02.

Totally agree with HotLavaMan provided that you desire those amenities. 3 grand is not THAT much more money if you will get years of enjoyment out of the extras. I prefer conventional HVAC, do not care that much about HID headlights and like the direction Toyota went with regarding the suspension tuning. That said, the BRZ is a handsome car and for the money you do get a whole lot of luxury if those features are on your want list.

I have to say though. I am not a spoiler person.. I would probably have to pay to have the spoiler removed.. At least Subaru did not put one of those giant WRX STI wings on it....

I agree, Im not too fond of the Limited spoiler. I would have to do the same or see if I can get a lip spolier instead.
