First post, got a 10 series on Friday

Hey everyone, short time lurker, first time poster. I picked up a brand new 10 series FR-S for my new daily driver, previous car was a '13 Mustang 5.0 which I really enjoyed but the time was right to sell it and get something more economical, I had some BMW's before that and know a few of the members here from those forums. The FR-S was my first choice, I had also considered a GTi or TDi Golf as well as some used BMW's and Benzes but this car is the most fun, least expensive and had the most attractive warranty plus some other stuff I got thrown in with the deal. I did a 2 year lease with zero drive-off cost, actually the finance manager gave me $500 to take the car. I could have bought it for $23572 but I like the idea of the lower payment and the ability to move into something new in a relatively short time, I always seem to want a new car but I'm sure many can relate to this sickness. :bonk:

anyway, here's a pic, there will be more later once the windows are tinted

You're modifying a lease car?

Well it's $$$ put into the car which you won't be able to remove....

M3_Dust 04-14-2014 03:45 PM

one of my best friends owns a tinting business and is doing it for me for free tomorrow, the dealer would have done it also but I'd rather have my friend do it

I'll be spending $0 on this car besides the payment and fuel. :)

Congrats. Welcome!

Welcome.

Curious what your lease payment is, what your residual is, miles per year. 24 months leases aren't common anymore. Most are 36 months.

my total payment including tax is $360/mo, 12k mi/yr, 20800 residual, .00132 money factor which also may have been changed, the residual was inflated in the finance department so that they could work all of the add-ons into the deal which I would normally say are B.S. if I was buying the car, but I got the wheel and tire protection, excessive wear and use protection so they can't say I scratched the car or the tires need to be replaced when I turn it in and hit me for some huge final expense, windshield replacements, paint protection/sealant application, interior damage protection/replacement and gap insurance. I put zero out of pocket and the finance manager gave me $500 cash to take the car. I don't need to drive a lot of miles right now since I'm not commuting to work, I put 1000 miles on my Mustang in the last 6 moths. They tried to push me to take the 36 month lease but it wasn't happening.

I was initially offered the car for purchase at 25572 plus the additional 2k incentive for using Toyota financial (the MSRP is $28180 on the window sticker), the payment would have been $451 for 60 months and I was offered 24 or 36 month leases at $351 and $328 respectively, the $2k incentive is used for the lease inception fees/down payment/first month's payment. I decided to go for the shorter term so I'd have zero maintenance expense ever for the car and I have a few other cars in mind for the 2017 model year and this sets me up quite well to be able to get into one of them at that time.

I can relate. Ive leased since I was 16. Im 37 now. I get a new car every 3 years. I came from a 370z. Ive had the frs 4 two years now. Never enjoyed driving so much.

I like reading about the sweet deals everyone gets. Its a nice change of pace.

M3_Dust 04-14-2014 04:37 PM

this is the first time I've leased, I always sell my cars in 3-4 years when the warranty is up anyway, it seemed like the better option at this time as I was really just trying to get something with a low payment that I didn't hate driving, and I do love driving this car, it reminds me a lot of my E36 M3 just slower and not always needing things to be fixed lol

...or a mortgage to cover it. Our '02 M3 went to a new home last year because it hadn't had any failures and we didn't want to tempt fate.
