That is why I am getting the fr-s so I could just leave it stock and race with slower and the more fun groups.

A bilstein would be nice so you could turn up some gas pressure. I think the BRZ would be the best subaru yet due to the low roll. Add a rear bar and some billies and of course hoosiers and i think you'll be in good shape. Camber bolts would be extremely helpful if that's workable but I guess the jury is still out on that one.

What I'd REALLY like is a double adjustable AST damper that uses the stock upper mounts and has an option for a fixed lower perch that fits stock springs...

Any chance of that?

Racecomp Engineering 05-17-2012 01:00 PM

That kind of thing is possible but costs a big chunk of change. But I've seen it done and I'm sure it will happen for the BRZ/FRS.

Technically adjustable spring perches are legal as long as they are set to stock ride height and have the same effective perch interface as the oe.

Can anyone provide some info on tire selection for RTR stock class?
For wheels I am considering the Motegi Traklite 1.0:

Motegi Racing Trak Lite
Forged
17x7
5x100
+42 offset
14.5 lbs

The wheels seem perfect for Stock class rules (while the Kosei are cheaper, no spacer would be needed).

The question is what size street tire to pair it with? For brand I was looking at either the Dunlops (Star Specs) or the Hankooks (RS3).

I heard that with street tires on narrow-ish rims, bigger isn't always better.

Just to be clear, I would use this wheel/tire combo for autocross only (no street use).

These are the exact wheels I've been looking at. I'm debating whether to get some larger wheels to put some decent street tires on and using the stock ones for race tires or getting these for just race tires, since I'm not looking to race in RTR. I'd like to have some decent street tires for those times I don't feel like racing on the race tires. Anyone know how much the stock wheels weigh, I'm sure it was already covered somewhere...

simpleisbest 05-27-2012 12:44 AM

Stock wheel weight is 20.1 lbs., I believe.
These Motegi's would result in about +20lbs reduction in overall weight...tempting for sure!

It seems that 225 would be an easy fit. The question would 235s or 245s get too "squishy" and result in slower times? If I am going to use them only for race, I would want to fit the fastest (non-purple crack HoHo's) tire size possible.

just got this...as I inquired about my letter to the SEB...

New post in Rule and Classing Clarifications: Given the interest around this car, and the amount of information initially missing, the SAC felt it neccessary to try and get as much clarity as possible prior to making our rec to the SEB. But, that recommendation was made and the SEB has now discussed, so the car has been classed....stay tuned.

I'm so mad the links on the scca fourms always break I seen we had some posts on the classing fourms but unexpected error.

Betting on C-Stock and STR, thoughts?

Scooby South 05-27-2012 11:59 PM

C Stk...and STX :)

Bill

simpleisbest 05-28-2012 03:09 PM

STX would be a nice fit! Don't know about C-Stock, though. Maybe if they moved the MS-Rs and Z0Ks trims out. With the limited camber adjustment, I'm hoping for D-Stock. Should go well up against the ITRs.

Vanguard 05-28-2012 03:51 PM

C-stock sounds about right. I'm going to bet it will hit STR. In the end, I don't think its going to be the over-dog everyone is hoping it will be, especially with the gearing.

With that being said, it will still be fun as balls to autocross!
