Washing black cars
So I have to imagine there is a post about this somewhere but I honestly can't find it, so if someone could point me in that direction that would be helpful.
Otherwise- black car owners! What do you use to wash/wax/dry your car? This is my first black car and I am trying so very hard not to make swirls or any of that fun stuff. Products/techniques/advice? Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Two buckets, grit guard in each, meguiars gold class shampoo, high quality wash mitt, plush waffle weave to dry. Start there every week and watch YouTube for a lot of other more specific and technical stuff.
Use a wheel brush and car soap for your wheels to keep it simple and dry with a separate towel. Once you get that down, meguiars ultimate spray wax and ultimate detailer are great as well as their gold class carnauba plus spray wax and detailer. All can be had for 50 bucks on amazon or wal mart and will work excellent for maintenance washes |
foam gun, sheep skin mit, two buckets of water. i dry with high quality waffle weave.
ultimate wash in foam gun, ultimate detailer for hard water spot removal, ultimate wax for topping it off. i use turtlewax rinseless + klasse sealant to make her shine |
Opticoat or CQuartz. Then use a waterless wash.

What do you consider high quality as far as wash mitts go? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

One thing to remember on washing a black car. I always pre rinse really thorough to get that loose dirt off!

Has anyone used the Turtle Wax Black Box kit?

I'm so terrified of ruining my car! :( |

However, with some TLC and microfiber, I made it work. I'm going to be washing by hand myself from now on. |
Gary Dean wash method like above.... Only way to fly, I wish I had side by side comparison of my car and a friends but its Night and day the difference...I have an asphalt which is almost black so I can relate...there is minimal swirling on my car on his theres just swirl marks looks like spider web all over the car really...I use beyond infinity sealant right now...about to switch to the infinate diamond shield and juice boost.
|
I'll also recommend using two mitts... One for the top, and second for bottom half since all the dirt seems to collect there. Keep using the bottom one only for the bottom for the next washes.

Any recommendations on a decent foam gun ? Not trying to break the bank but don't want to cheap out as well :O
|
This is the foam cannon i use, plus use the honeydew, its great! Not the cheapest in the world, but im a big believer in buying good quality tools once, and have them last forever/really long time.
I love the honey dew cleaner, realyl foams up amazing, hoping to find a new soap local though, hate having to buy a bunch to save on shipping from chemical guys. I really need to do some more research and find a good foamy soap for use in my foam gun. Any ideas? Anyone? |
Gary deans ships free...I think?
