could someone point me in the right direction?

I am at the point where I have decided that i will be going FI at some point down the road. I plan on keeping the car long enough that i believe at some point I will need to rebuild a short block for the car. My goal is a streetable 350hp at the wheels in the long run. My car is a DD but I would like to autox and some HPDE's.

I am at the point where I don't want to start buying headers and other exhaust components just to need to replace them. I would rather spend the money on the supporting mods like oil cooling, bigger radiator, etc.

The two plans I am thinking are either AVO turbo kit or Vortech supercharger. The AVO kit seems to me to be the best turbo option and most trackable package. The Vortech Kit does intrigue me because I can build it slowly (IE. doing the headers, Open flash Tablet, other exhaust parts, etc.). To methe downside is that when I eventually do rebuild a motor i would probably make more power with a turbo.

Can anyone give any insight onto the pros and cons of either way? All of my reading leads me to believe that no matter which way I go, I am going to spend such a similar price for either kit that price s almost negligible. I love the boxer sound and the AVO kit has a UEL manifold, and is the only low mounted turbo kit i have seen.

You might want to track down 'Nataku' on these forums. He has the AVO kit with some modifications to some of the pipes. It fits really nice. Look in the Mid-Atlantic section in the Pure Automotive posting threads and you can PM him from there. His avatar is a Lava FR-S.

What's your budget?

Sounds like you haven't even started running it at autox yet. Why not get it on the track first, mod as needed? That's always been the advice I've been given

Because I need to go faster.

I don't really have a budget. My plan is to add fi I initially on the stock block and eventually build a new block. Every kit I have seen is around 4-5k and will need tuning. I think my biggest question is would a turbo kit be worth it over the supercharger since the eventual plan is to rebuild a motor. I
I live in southwest Florida and it gets hot. That is why I was thinking supercharger originally until I realized the avo kit keeps the turbo away from the radiator.

Have you seen where the PTuning turbo is located?

I second that. Keep in mind that the sticker price doesn't include installation unless you DIY. I am still paying to get my "budget" kit up to snuff.

By making the car faster or the driver faster?

You said not really a budget. The PTuning kit price is fair when you look at the expensive components, length of piping, quantity of custom parts, and lastly quality of product. Uses a Garret GT turbo, turbo smart BOV/WG and then factor in oil scavanging pump and you'll see why its priced as such just for those parts.

Anyways... It meets your requirements and can support well into 500whp which PTuning has shown without a short block too.

Good luck!

The AVO kit uses a $500 turbo, the PTuning uses a $1300 turbo. So a lot of the cost difference is made up right there. The AVO turbo will not hit 350WHP without the upgraded one, the GT3076R in the PTuning kit could hit 500+WHP with enough boost.

The quality of the PTuning kit is way better. I would have gone with it but I was able to get another front-mount kit for a lot cheaper with just as good of a turbo, and I'm not a huge fan of the long IC piping. If I went with the PTuning kit I would however find a way to swap the electrical scavenging pump with the Subaru mechanical one.

So yea like I was saying, pricier but higher quality setup lol
Also it's undermount turbo which you are looking for.
