Rock Chips

I'm trying to figure out if this bothers the hell out of any of you other guys, or if its just me. I have my whole front bumper covered in XPEL Ultimate and BOOM... rock chip on the hood :mad0260:. It's pretty minor, but on a perfect front end, it always draws my attention first.

Are rock chips something that really bother you guys? Or is there some other minor unavoidable defect that really gets under your skin. :mad0259:

That's why I did the whole hood and fenders as well.

I reached out to the guy that did my bumper today, looking to schedule the rest of the coverage ASAP!

Rock chips drive me crazy - two of the more noticeable ones I've gotten were right on a ridge too (one on the ridge of the headlight socket, and the other right on the ridge of the hood (the part that is right next to the lining, and the area where the x-pel shield would just stop short of...))

I love my baby and I can't stand chips - just two weeks ago I was exiting the freeway (was only on it for three minutes) and I had some chain link or something metallic come out of nowhere and hit my driver side fender. After that incident I think I've avoided the freeway almost entirely since :sigh:

Despite all of my precautions while driving I seem to have had awful luck with them, so you're not alone in that :(

Rocket bunny says hi XD.

My bottom part of the bumper and my lip were full of rock chips, had one on a left fender and one on a bonnet, foiled the car, voila.

I suggest you go for the protection film.

Rock chips drive me CRAZY!! I just try to remind myself that the can is my daily driver and I drive A LOT (128 miles a day) so its bound to happen.

That's why first thing I did when I got my bought my car was spray 3m paint defender on the hood and bumper. Hopefully, that's enough for the minor rock chips.

How does that stuff work?

They suck for sure. It's inevitable. Every year that goes by means you are a year closer to a new car :-)

They drive me nuts, but they are an unavoidable part of driving any car. I drive 85 miles a day and I do my best to avoid situations where the risk is higher, but unfortunately I have a few.

It's a spray on that dry's as a plastic protect film.

Anyone know what the best method is to apply touch up paint for rock chip repairs?

I have an ssm and bought the oem touch up paint from subaru. I used the tooth pick method that alot of people are recommending to cover the spots however, the paint doesn't match up. It appears darker than the silver and is actually more annoying than the rock chips. What am I missing?!?!

i have the front bumper applied with the film, but not the hood. after this long winter with salt on the road i've gotten a few. i just covered it with touch up paint. it's a car, bound to have rock chips.

Just got the rest of the front clip covered in Xpel Ultimate! Hopefully this should save me from the crazy shale on the road.
