Lexus RC-F GT86 with a V8?
I haven't found the exact dimensions of the RCF, but looks mighty like Toyota slapped in a V8 and nice trim onto our chassis. The doors and trunk appear the same. Anyone else have thoughts on it? Am I seeing things?

I thought I was seeing things when I was seeing images of the Jag F type coupe too... (my new dream car) and its resemblance at least in profile.

It's a much bigger vehicle. Different Chassis. The Lexus RC is kind of a blend between the IS & the GS and it fits inbetween in dimensions.
Here is some of the technical info on RC-F (courtesy of Lexus Enthusiast): Horsepower More than 450 hp Torque More than 383 lb.-ft. Transmission Eight-speed Sports Direct Shift (SPDS) Seating Capacity 4 Overall Length 185.2 in. (GT86=166.7in.) Width 72.8 in. (GT86=69.9in.) Height 54.7 in. (GT86=50.6in.) Wheelbase 107.5 in. (GT86=101.2in.) Driven Wheels Rear Wheel Drive Curb Weight Targets less than 3,968 lbs. (GT86=~2806lbs) Brake Type Four-wheel power assisted disc brakes (Brembo manufactured for Lexus) with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA) Wheel size (front and rear) Fr 19” x 9” Rr 19” x 10” Tires size Fr 255/35/19 Rr 275/35/19 0 – 60 mph Targets faster than IS F Top speed Estimated 168 mph (electronically limited) MPG (City/Hwy/Comb.) Targets better than IS F Platform (courtesy of Car & Driver): The RC F will make use of the same humble architecture as does the IS350 F Sport and the standard IS, which is a truncated version of the GS’s underpinnings. The IS’s double-A-arm front suspension and multilink rear setup will have spent a substantial amount of time at the Nürburgring being optimized in order to match the times of the RC F’s German competition. See here for more on RC-F http://lexusenthusiast.com/2014/01/1...he-lexus-rc-f/ Lexus RC Chassis http://www.forcegt.com/wp-content/up...pe-chassis.jpg GT86 Chassis http://www.toyota.com.au/static/imag...is-940x529.jpg I know that in the automotive sector chassis can be the same without looking the same in skeleton, but these images illustrate what has been said. It is a complete different platform, that shares no internal bits. |
wonder what the price is?

I expect the RC350 to be priced above the IS350 at ~$43+. Add $3-4 at least for F-Sport package. RC-F starting trim will likely be starting at price range of outgoing-IS-F and M4 at ~$64+. |
I'm on the Lexus forums too and they talk about nothing but the RC right now. The RC has the same chassie as the GS's. I don't really see a whole lotta FR-S in there though to be honest....

Hello! I'm not an expert in all this yet, but I'm interested in such questions. I esteem your opinions, I think it will come in handy.

I had someone try to convince me that the RC was a rebadged 86. No matter how much I tried to refute the claim I could not convince them.

I consider the RC-F the medium brother vs. the FT86 being the little brother, and then the LFA is the big brother. And the Supra is like the distant cousin. I can see certain aesthetic characteristics that are similar between these four cars, especially with the front of the LFA and then the side profiles of the Supra or RC-F compared to our cars.

They might have similar design philosophy but my admittedly short time with the rc did not remind me of my brz at all
